i know there's already two threads about this on the page, but they dont really address my questions.

i'm a college student, which means two things. 1) i've stolen a lot of music and 2) i'm poor. i want to reformat my laptop this summer and i dont feel like burning six gigs of music on to CDs. i can probably cash in a favor with a buddy and get an old hard drive. so my question is about the enclosure itself. should i go with an passive aluminum eenclosure or a fan-cooled aluminum enclosure? shipping costs actually make the fan-cooled one cheaper, and i like the fact that it has a power switch.

so what's the verdict?

Let's place you in a little box without a fan and see how long it takes before you overheat.... :p

that all depends how much silence is worth to you ... those little fans tend to be whiney.
