Hi all,
I just popped in a new Phenom II X6 1100T into a motherboard I just got (from another forum poster
). The mobo is an Asus Crosshair 890FX. Well this is my first ever high-end mobo and here's my concern... When I started up the computer with the new chip I went through the BIOS to recongnize the new CPU and I selected the "Auto" mode for overclocking. When I restarted the computer I see the CPU running at 3.84GHz. My questions are:
1. Is this chip okay running @ .54 over stock?
2. Can I trust the BIOS or should I throttle it back?
The CPU is currently running at 38C under no load. I'm using an H70 liquid cooler. Up until now I have never overclocked since I can't afford to blow things up.
Thanks for any help, adice, or wisdom you can share.
Marty
