question about doom 3 performance

i got doom 3 and have been playing around with it for a while now. i was wondering if my performance for doom 3 is normal and if other people are experiencing what i am. on 1024x768, medium settings, no vsync, all other stuff enabled, and no AA or AF i am getting 45fps on the timedemo. my system is athlon 64 3200+, 1gb RAM mushkin pc3500 2-3-3-6, ati aiw 9800 pro, 160gb western digital hd regular pata drive, sound blaster audigy 2 nx (usb version), and my case/mobo is a shuttle sn85g4 (nvidia nforce 150). i am running everything stock speeds. for my drivers i am running 4.9 beta. i just did a fresh install of winxp and only installed drivers, directx 9.0c, sound card drivers, and of course doom 3. also when in real play, i get alot of drops to like 20 fps, only for a moment but still annoying. anyone with this kinda setup experiencing this???

any info/tips would be useful thanks.
