Quake Con 2026 is this weekend. What announcements can we expect?

Some say a remastered Wolfenstein 2009 game might released.

Anything else? Personally, I would love a brand new next generation Quake game, but with the recent layoffs at id Tech that's probably not in the cards.

I heard the rumors about Nightdive shadow dropping Wolfenstein 2009. Honestly would love to see that as it's one of those rarer PC games trapped in obscurity and no longer available to purchase. There were sites selling Steam keys for it after it was delisted, but I didn't want to pay the silly markup.

It didn't receive a ton of love back then due to being "consolized" and coming out during the 7th console generation when we were getting some really solid shooters that pushed the genre forward like BioShock and COD: MW4, but if you look around now you'll find many people who look back on it favorably (particularly after seeing the direction things were going with Youngblood). It was one of those 7/10 games that was overshadowed by other releases of its era, and I'd love to see it revamped and made available again because it deserves its spot in history among the other Wolfenstein games.

I have the MagiPack of Wolf'09, and I own a physical copy. Retail has SecuROM DRM, so fuck that.

Also unnecessary to specify 2009 for the title since it's the only game in the series called "Wolfenstein."

I just call it the "Black haired BJ one" :D

I still prefer Wolfenstein over the modern series. It's much closer to RTCW with the supernatural elements.

Ah, nothing beats the classic FPS ones :)

Was Hexen ever remastered and re-released?
Yep, it received the Nightdive treatment under Bethesda.

From Wikipedia:

On August 7, 2025, Bethesda Softworks re-released Heretic and Hexen in a bundle called Heretic + Hexen, developed by Id Software and Nightdive Studios in association with Activision and Raven Software, for Windows, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.[3] It includes a brand new campaign titled Faith Renewed that has new enemies, maps, and weapons. A new remastered soundtrack was included titled "Tome of Power," arranged by Andrew Hulshult. The game was also made available to select Game Pass members of PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate.
