Has anyone ever clipped the excess leads from a PSU? Can anyone point me to a good tutorial on removing them? I am very tired of trying to hide a giant rats nest of unused power leads.

I have an Antec 400watt PSU and only use 3 of the 35 supplied cables... its kinda ridiculus...

Suggestions? Ideas? Rants?

I dunno about cutting them off but cant you just hide them ontop on the PSU or down the back, not the back of the mobo but between the right hand side panel and the mobo pan. Thats what I do and just tie wrap them all together. On a slightly offtopic note I just finnished recabling my case and sleeving the PSU cables apart from the ATX connector and it looks really tidy inside.

you can do it but you gotta be careful not to have any of the exposed wires touch each other. just cut them off and put tape over the ends of the wires. not a great idea with a good PSU however, you might need the extra leads in the future. hide them behind the mobo, over the PSU, etc

I'd trust heat shrink to cover the exposed ends more than electrical tape. The tape is more likely to fall off over time and create a dangerous situation.
