PSU Mod - Adding Molexs

Hola !

Ok I have a new PSU and well with the exception of the Fan and SATA connectors I am out of usuable molex connectors. So I want to hack in some extra cable and connectors for powering a few more HD's and the like.

I have an Antec TruePower 430, So what would my limiting factors be on draw per strand ( cable bunch ) example - I want to have 1 strand that has 4 connectors to power my 2 dvd drives, and 2 HD's Would that be pushing it for that strand and I should mix it up more with a some other devices that are not going to be pulling as much power on boot ?

Your power supply gives out 20amps max on the +12v line, which most likely powers your HDDs and Opticals, so finding out what kind of load you are putting on the PSU from your entire computer would be the best way to go...or to make things more practicle just add a few connectors and see if you smell smoke, you still have a warrenty, right? :)
 
adding 1 or 2 connectors to the rail shouldn't hurt I don't think. It's no different than buying a few Y connectors. In fact if you don't want to make it look super pretty I'd suggest that you should just go buy some Y connectors.
 
Well I was shooting for Soldering up semi custom length wires so it would all hide better and make 1 run do the HD's 1 run for DVD's 1 run for teh video card, the USB Hub power and Floppy power etc like that.
