Ps3 won't update GT5!

Ok, I bought a used ps3 unknown to me at the time it was a kiosk version... The issue I have the unlock codes, have a PSN username, it logs on to PSN etc, however it does not ask to update GT5 I know there is an update out there (actually 5) and that enables online play what can I do....

I wouldn't care, but the guy i got it from was nice enough to update to firmware 3.55.. this means I can't roll back and install the retail firmware. This sucks, there has to be a way to fix this.
 
GT5 should ask to update as soon as it logs into PSN.
 
see thats what I thought, but the system logs into PSN (shows user name everything on top) but you start game and it doesn't ask to update.... and there is no online play because that is part of what patch 1.01 added.... they are now on 1.05 and that adds damage and some other really cool shit and I can't get it.... Hmmmm.... I know I am missing something. I am going to try to put farcry II in when I get home and delete the save file and see if it will try to update it.
