For those people in south florida area looking for a ps3. As of last night the target on lake worth blvd in lake worth had 2 left in the glass case after I got mine. They are the 60gg versions. Enjoy.
 
You can pretty much walk into most retailers and find PS3s now a days. Thanks for the information though. =)
 
Ya, I work at a Sam's Club in North Dallas and we have one 60 gig PS3 for 5 days. Everyone is calling for Wiis now and the PS3 frenzy seems to have ended and I think most people feel its impossible to get one now this close to Christmas.

The areas by me are the same way. My boss asked for a 360 on sunday, and they tried to convince him he wanted a ps3... it was retarded. now that stores have them, theyre trying to get rid of them before other systems... it makes no sence, who cares what a customer is buying from you, as long as they're buying something?

It's not a generalization, it's fact at this point. You can go at most stores and get a PS3 right now; they aren't selling. Much different situation then the Wii where people still lineup hours before the store opens on the rumour they might have received a shipment.

QFT... It's amazing how much of a flip-flop the situation is from what I expected, especially considering supply. But still, credit is due to the OP for sharing a little advice. Nothing wrong with that. Hey, maybe he even hooked someone up.
 
I've looked around for one and have only encountered one store that had a PS3 in stock. It was FYE and they would only sell it as a rediculous priced bundle, not standalone. It was a 20gb model.
 
I was in a Wii line at Best Buy over the weekend and they had several PS3's that weren't moving (and I only showed up a few minutes prior to opening time). I wouldn't quite call them common yet, but they're certainly not as rare as a Wii. I've run into 3-4 of them by now.
It's simply because it's too expensive for an impulse purchase. Joe average can't just drop $600+ when he stumbles upon one. He's also not too likely to get one for his kid's Christmas present either.

Ding. I think a huge part of the demand for Wiis comes from parents trying to get them for their kids. I'm willing to bed that this is a much much smaller factor in PS3 sales, perhaps explaining the dip in camping after most enthusiasts got theirs.

No store in my general area has any PS3s.
 
I got my hands on several PS3's which I made nothing off of on Ebay. I'm sure if I really wanted another one I could find one around here somewhere but Wii's....forget it. My friends got some Wiis on Sunday by camping out the entire freakin night. The PS3s single biggest problem is the price. I don't know anyone that isn't at least a little bit interested in the PS3 but the $775 (with tax, 2 games and an extra controller) price tag. That's a lot of dough to the average person.

I live in SW florida, and the Target I used to work at has a stock of Wii's, but the PS3's go right out the door as soon as they're in. So yes it IS just a generalization.
 
There hasn't been a PS3 readily availabe in the Denver metro area since launch. They come in, and go right out. Same is true of the Wii.

And yes that was a big generalization.
 
Im sorry but the people who keep saying that there is a stockpile of PS3s sitting around for a week are full of crap. Stop making generalizations. I have been trying to get a PS3 in Milwaukee, WI from Every Wal Mart(6), Best Buy(7), Target(4) in town for the last 2 weeks and there have been shipments every 3-5 days or so of at least 7-20 PS3s and I STILL cannot get my hands on one because I can't get there quick enough. Milwaukee, WI is no rich city like LA either. There is still plenty of demand for them. Don't assume because they aren't selling for 20000000 dollars on ebay that nobody wants them. People just aren't willing to buy them on ebay now since there are regular shipments.

The WIIs are exactly the same way here. In and out within a few hours.

Define "readily available" ?
I've seen 'em on 4 occasions so far. Best Buy in Littleton had some Sunday morning, my Wal-Mart had 2 last week, and I watched someone buy the last of 3 that came in at the Best Buy in Park Meadows last week.
Sadly I can't find a Wii anywhere, at least one that isn't claimed via the strange "ticket" system people were using on Sunday morning.
 
I find it odd that every day or so, a poster appears on this forum posting where PS3s can be found.

Even though Wiis are shipping out over PS3s at a rate around 3:1, I have yet to see someone post where Wiis can be found (other than myself, who happened to walk into a Fry's and see Wiis on the shelf).

Coincidence?

I would call a system "readily available" when I can walk in, grab one off the shelf and walk up to the checkout.
If that store doesn't have it, then walk down the street to one that does.

Being able to COUNT how many each store has in stock on one hand is hardly "readily available."

And not having to race to a store because someone posted on a forum that store X has 5 more in stock.

In that case, the only systems that ARE readily available are the 360, the GameCube, and (especially) the PSP...which they seemingly can't even give away locally.
 
You can't find a PS3 or Wii anywhere in the greater Bay Area without serious hardcore looking or pure luck that you show up exactly when they get a shipment. Stop making out of the blue comments about anyone can find one now a days.

They sell for less on ebay....yes. Easier to find than the Wii....yes. (thats not saying much).
But they are still extremely hard to come by. Maybe its all the idiots still trying to sell them on eBay...who knows. But they are not in stores.

I'm not too far from Milwaukee (NW Suburbs of Chicago) and I saw PS3's for sale 5 different times yesterday alone while I was Wii hunting. I did pick up three of them, not knowing if they were going to be hard to find- then when I saw the 4th and 5th ones in the next two stores I went into, I realized I would probably be returning them if my friends didn't want them. :) I returned the 60GB today and my friend is picking up a 20GB on Friday- and I still have another 20GB if you'd like it for what I paid for it... otherwise I'm returning it as well. You're not too far from me, so I had to offer.

I think I must have followed a Target delivery man around coincidentally, or else just got really lucky. The 60GB was from Circuit City, though.

As for my success with the WiiHunt, I had none, but my husband was driving home from Springfield IL and found Wii's for sale in a random Walmart on his way home. Talk about luck. Today was the first day I hadn't WiiHunted in a looong time.

What strange ticket system? When I camped at Best Buy they used a ticket system, which certainly wasn't strange. At 5:00 the manager came out and made a list of the first 24 people in line, so that he could avoid a mad dash to the door. He told us that we still had to stay in line until he handed out tickets at 7 though. He came out one other time around 6:15 to make sure everyone was still in line. At 7 he came out and handed out 24 tickets for the 24 Wii's they had. Then at 7:30 they let in everyone who had a ticket, we picked up accessories and games, and at 8 were able to buy everything.

I really dont see anything strange about handing out tickets to people who waited in line over night. It is much more orderly, and safe then having a race to the door.

I live in boulder, and when I was at the bestbuy at flatirons at 1 sunday, I saw a guy walking out with a ps3. I don't think the ps3's last days and days in the stores, but there aren't lines of people camping for one, like the wii. I did go back to see if they had another, but no.

At my store they gave out the tickets the *night* before. If you're going to do that - why not just give 'em out the week before? Hell, why not just pre-sell it EB style? If you star handing out tickets to people who do things "early" - where do you draw the line? Why can't I just show up tomorrow and ask for a ticket to get one the next time they get some in. That's what I'm getting at. It opens a big 'ol can of worms when you don't force people to stay there waiting.

Not surprising. I live right next to *Los Angeles* (yes, in a HUGE city) and while I was hunting for an extra Wii on Sunday to give as an Xmas gift to a friend who wants but can't really afford one, I was offered PS3's at literally *9* different stores. I turned down every single one, LOL.

Meanwhile, people were lined up and had camped out for Wii's. 4 WEEKS after launch for chrissakes.
 
Thank you Denver blizzard! Not only did I get the day off of work, I went into Wal-Mart to get some water and they had Wii's on sale they just got this morning. They had several PS3's too.
Not sure if all Wal-Marts are like this, but they never actually put these out on the shelf and haven't since day 1. You've gotta ask if they have 'em.
If anyone's in south Denver, it's the Wal-Mart at Hampden and Santa Fe. I got mine at 1'ish and I'd guess they at least have one PS3 left.
 
Im in the northeast area, I tried the stores at rockyham newhampshire. 2weeks ago they had a few wiis and a ps3 on a friday, bad thing is they sold 3 hours before I got there, looks like in this area is a little harder since it's in an active area. Tomorrow I have work, target told me they are more likely to get them after christmas but to call in tomorrow maybe they get some shipment information. Since I landed this friday off I might give it a try in the morning, I hear around 9.00am - 10.00 am is a good time. I tried a few days ago motorstorm demo, looks awesome really want a ps3. It's a little difficult when you have little time off. Most fun thing is Circuit City has those decoy boxes that are for illustration porpuses, it was funny watching a kid make a run for it, call his friends, then lift the thing to find out it's empty lies.
 
Out here in hick ville NY my local Walmart had 9 60GB PS3's just sitting around collecting dust lol

Actually, that strange "ticket" system you talk about is probably one of the smartest thing that the stores can do. How retard is it, if the system wasnt in place, for you to sit in line for 2,3,4 or 5 hours to get one, only to have some sprinter come crashing through line and get to the line first. I got mine last weekend and the store manager came out and explained the situation (they had 15 and were giving out 15 tickets which I got #7) and that if she saw anyone "running" for the front of the line she would have the two rather large security guards standing next to her eject the people from the store. Needless to say that people came running in at 8:01am thinking they could run for one only to get turned around by security. Even got the enjoyment, as I was walking back from the bathroom of hearing some lady ranting and raving that F*&$ing Target should have F$%*ing told their F$*(@ing customers that called the F$#(ing night before that they were giving out F$*@ing tickets. I just smiled and thought, well you should have F#$*ing grown a brain and F$#*ing thought of the F*#(ing people that were smart enough to be here early :D

Read my later post - the tickets were given out the day before. If they're going to do that, why not just give 'em out the week before? Why can't I just show up and ask for a ticket for the PS4 and Wii2 *right now*? That's the problem I have. If you're going to give out tickets for something happening in the future, what's the cut off and at what point does it become a pre-sell with no money down?

Yeah I retract my statement for the most part. I agree, not only is that completely illegal, via BB's policies, but retarded in the same fact. I can understand your frustration at that. But for the people that run in the day of at 8am and try and rush past everyone then get pissed that they gave out tickets 15mins before hand to the people that had waited for numerous hours..all i can say is... Are you near a tall building? Can you get to the top? Ok go jump off you worthless piece of #%*.....

For the group that I sat in, there was even a dad and his 9 yr old son that were sitting in line in a snow storm at 6am. I over heard the kid telling his dad he was tired and cold and the dad promptly told him that was fine but if he wanted a Wii for Xmas "DAY" he would have to sit in line with him. But he could go sit in the car for a little while and sit in front of the heater.
This I thought was awesome why not make your kid learn something about things like this instead of just going out and doing it for them like most of todays youth. This was nothing like the mom and her two sons that were bitching because of the line of people buying the Wiis and she couldnt believe how many people there were there already. I stopped and, politely mind you, told them that all the Wii's had been ticketed at 7:45am and that they only had 15, so if they were looking for a Wii they might be better off trying BB down the road or that the local Wal-Marts would be getting their shipment on Wednesday and said they would have them out at 8am. The woman then just glared at me and gave me the dirtiest look like I had just spit on her. Was quite funny actually.
