i want to run cs source with good fps

what kind of processor do u think can do that at the lowest cost?

What engine is that?
I'm guessing A64 will be better either way, since it's shorter pipeline favors branchy code such as games. Not Quake III, though ;)

Quake 3 benifits more from memory bandwidth and cache size - which is why the P4EE does so well, it fits half the game in its cache alone!

I;m just gonna say A64, i don't know jack about cs since i don't play it.

let's just say going from a 2100+ xp (1.733Ghz) to a Athlon64 3000+ (2.0Ghz)...I can encode videos about 4 times faster.....

CS:Source is Counter-Strike running on the Half-Life 2 engine, so basically he's asking which he should get for HL2 based games.

My local Lan Center just got the CS:S Beta. The computers they have there are: 2.8 Ghz Intel P4Es, Nvidia GeForce FX 5700, and 1GB Kingston PC3200 DDR RAM. They run this game at about 40fps on average just to give you alittle hint.

actually, the a64 has a 12stage pipeline while the xp only has a 10stage.

ohh an amd xp should run it fine depending on what one but a 64 should do alright while as in normal hl cs in cs 1.0 and fallowing version except steam runined it you didnt really need a good comp lol.
