hi,

i just built my first pc with help from a mate although i have come across a few problems. The power supply seems to work as i have tested it with a power pen, the molex's had 12v running through them. although the power supply works the whole computer will not turn on. absolutly nothing happens. I am pretty u sure everything is connected right. can any one help me. the spec is:

Athlon 64 3800+ venice
Connect3d X850XT
Gigabyte K8NXP-9 mobo
Plextor 916A optical drive
Antec Neopower 480W PSU
Thermaltake Kandalf case
IIyama pro 454 19" CRT
1024mb coisair xms
floppy disk
200gb segate barracuda 7200.7 hdd


please help me i dont know what it could be!
 
not that i'm trying to say you're dumb but, are you sure the power button wires are plugged into the right pins on the mobo? possibly double check the mobo's manual and double check connections overall... sorry for being little help :confused:

seconded.. on my 8kns ultra-939 its the F_Panel section to the bottom right, theres written next to the pins wich connectors goes where. double check this.. basicly what you ened is make sure the Power sw connecter is connected right
 
check all wires. make sure everything is plugged in correctly and all the way. then reset CMOS. try booting without HDD and CD-ROM. just mobo/cpu, ram, video, psu
 
I would try powering up with the absolute bare minimum. The PSU, motherboard and CPU. Take out RAM, drives, cards, ect. See if it powers up and the lights come on. Maybe something wasn't seated properly? If it does power up, I would slowly add back hardware until it stops working. It could also be a bad motherboard...
 
I am real pissed off. I hate people who pretend they know what theyre talking about. I took my pc to some technician guy, and how the hell he can call himself a technician i dont know, i have to pay him a load of money for a piece of advise that doesnt make sense. he says that the memory is not compatible with the motherboard, and that hes gonna try and see if it works with what he calls standard memory. Is it just me or is he talking a load of BULLSHIT. Please excuse my language i am just annoyed.

P.s and by the way i did all what you said.

I would be surprised if this memory was the issue (from a compatibility stanpoint).

Maybe the power switch is not working try one from another pc if you have one around. If you already tried the previous suggestions.
