Got mine in today and I can't seem to get the remote to work. I went through the help files and it seems to need an IR reciever which was not shipped with the package.. Is this an additional upgrade or did it just get missplaced from my package?

Is the drive connected with the ribbon cable? Is the internal drive connected to a molex? Also you have to point the remote directly at the internal drive.

Isnt the IR receiver built into the 5 1/4" bay thing that comes with it?

Yes and Yes, I followed all of the instructions provided. I know that the breakout box is working because I can use my headphones through it.

Keep in mind, the remote is only going to work with Creative's MediaSource software package.

Doesn't work with anything else. (Or, at least, it might - but it won't without the MediaSource installed first. IE., do a full install instead of custom and see if that makes a difference)

Problem is solved! Installed "Entertainment Center" restarted, works fine now! Only works with MediaSource apparently though, you can change EAX settings/volume/etc anytime, but the actual multimedia part doesn't work :(

Playing around with the Entertainment center thing now, which is pretty neat for an HTPC, but I really wish it could integrate with foobar or power dvd :( Heck, Id be happy with WMP at this point, haha.

I remember there was app called intelliremote that allowed to ctrl apps other than just media source.

That makes it work in non CL apps, but the button assignments are hosed.

Did you see the link at the top of that page to the larger project that this code went to?

That 'RM-X' app looks a lot like Girder. Only, ya know, free.
