I'm trying to upgrade a laptop from ME to XP.
I know that I can use the autorun on the XP cd and use the on-screen installation menu, but when i entered the Setup after restarting I can't delete the partition (it needs to be re-formated) due to setup files that were copied onto the HD.

So what I need to know is wow do get to the BIOS/CMOS on boot (this is on an Inspiration 8000 where all it shows is the stupid dell screen on startup)? I've tried F1, delete, every button with no luck. Is there something in the system's Registry that I can change or what?

Thanks for takin a look.

you need to boot off of the cd. go into BIOS, then into BOOT CONFIG, then select "CDROM" as the primary boot device, and try it again.

EDIT: Try F2, F10 to get into BIOS.

well that got me there
and i just lost 3 self esteme points for hitting the wrong button

thanks
