problem with cpu??

so anyways new comp for a friend..... I fired up the m/b installed everything with cpu, ram, graphic card and etc...
and yet i noticed there is no beeping noises... (everytime comp beeps when it boots up).. but for some reason this m/b doesn't beep... so yeah.. everything boot ups fine...so i went to play around in the cell section.. aka the ocing section...
so I guess i turned the fsb... to 170.. it posted.. 180.. posted..190 didn't post.. 184 fsb it didn't post.. and when i rebooted. it say floppy error.. but I didn't put floppy... because my friend will not use it..
so after I turned that off... and turn back up.. the monitor would just shuts down after few secs.. but it does say connection are fine.. and etc..
so I swapped out... video card, hardrive..ram..video cable...
i took out battery of the m/b and I reset the bio info a lot of times...

I am afraid it might be motherboard and cpu problem.. could it really be it?!?!? oh no!! :confused: :mad:
i went on msi site.. and it aint that helpful.. I need help please!! :(

btw excuse my writing ... it has been a long night... be doing this for 8 hours now... and had no sleep... had only 2 hours.. of sleep..
 
Sounds like it could be a PSU problem. Hook up a different one and then try starting the system.
 
sorry about the horrible post that I wrote hours ago.

I have msi kzn2 delta 2 motherboard,
I have the kingston value ram pc3200 1gig
geforce 6800oc bfg
3 hardrives, 200 gig maxtor, 250 gig maxtor, 200 gig wd
and tdk 40x cd burner, nec 8 x dual layer dvd burner
with 2600+ amd tbird.
the case that I have is the kingwin mutant x silver/ gray gaming case with "420w" power supply from newegg....

any other infos ?? thank you all for the help... :(
 
Make sure that the heatsink is properly seated, though don't take it off if you don't have any more thermal compound to put back on it. Also remove ALL connectors and cards except for video, one stick of known good/compatible ram, atx power, aux atx power, and power switch. Then clear CMOS and see if it posts. If it doesn't, swap out the PSU (kingwin is poopoo), then try again. Repeat with video card and ram, then report back.
 
1 correction the m/b is msi k7n2 delta 2
and I just found the d-bracket...
and it has 4 lights, whenever I start the comp it shows
2 on top 2 on right

What dariob said, start with the basics, that's a lot of gear for a "kingmax" to drive even on a good day with a lightning strike nearby.

RAM and CPU only, after bios reset, see if it will post. Don't reset the bios with the PSU plug plugged in (always a safe practice)
 
here it is a general background on the situation.

the comp is brand new, and at first it booted fine, bio, I hit del and played around the settings.. I tried to oc.. and btw this system has no floppy drive... then suddenly i played with the fsb.. and the system wouldn't boot to the bio screen and it said floppy error blah blah.. that is when everything started... whenever I start the comp.. never "boot" up not even the bio screen.. the monitor deplays nothing .. and I tired to take out the battery and the clear cmos jumper.. nothing.. the computer turns on... but the monitor deplays nothing.. and the video card is fine, and etc.. I tried it on another comp..
 
another short update, before I do something more. Sorry to bother you all with this.. :(


I plugged in a new compusa 500 watt powersupply and it still does the samething.
I also plugged in a new 256 pc3200 pny ram and nothing .. it does the samething..

I am now RMA the motherboard...
and the cpu ran out of warrenty now..
do you all think it is the motherboard now??

Use the jumper pins on the motherboard to reset the BIOS.
 
Have you tried the MSI bios recovery feature? Info is on thier website. No post and no nothing would lead my in that direction first.

Doubtful it's the CPU, very rare. Same with the RAM.

You don't need to be an expert to pooch a bios flash, and worse everyonce and a while they don't show up untill a reboot or so later. Makes no sense, but I've seen it happen

The motherboard seriously has no jumperpins that does the fsb or anything. Seriously, I have read the manual and looked at the motherboard in search of it like hundreds of times.. my friend too. The D-Bracket aka the post code shows

From my many searches and many awesome people at hardocp helping me solve this problem. The post codes mean something wrong with the memory, but I tried a new stick in and still does the samething.

But hey whats the bio recovery function?? I thought it was only for bad flashes on bio. Do tell me how to do that or show me the link. Thank you so much :(

Sure it does: JBAT1, under "Clear CMOS Jumper" in the manual. Page 38.
 
I had this a few times messing about with the FSB. You need to override the fsb and force it to 100Mhz then you can change the bios setting to something sensible and move the jumper back. I can't tell which K7N2 you have on mine it's labelled J10 and is on page 2-30 of the manual (I have a K7N2 Delta ILSR). Also it's slightly below and to the left of the northbridge chipset (again make sure by checking the manual)

You need to do this aswell as clear the bios as for some reason just clearing the bios means the motherboard still attempts to post at the last selected FSB (at least I think that's why feel free to correct)

my friend has the k7n2 delta 2..

i'll go over his house again to take a look...
but I see no pins under the big heatsink, and underneath is the northbirdge chipset...

Move the jumper from its original position to the other pair of pins, turn the power on, count to 10, turn the power off, move the jumper back to its original position, boot. Your BIOS settings will be back to default.


If this is the default position:

== O (== is the jumper, O is the third, unjumpered pin)

Then you need to move the jumper to look like this:

O ==

Turn the power on, count to 10, turn the power back off, then move the jumper back to original position:

== O


and boot.
 
be sure to remove the battery while doing this too... though you don't have to.
and another thing to try.. hold down insert immediatly after you power up the computer.
 
I have done something like this before..

Here...

Pull main power out of PSU
Reset Cmos after you have removed the battery....wait 3 minutes....

Reinstall the battery...just have your mobo/memory/video on it.....IF you using onboard MSI only uses Pc2700...if video seperate then you can Use Pc3200


U should be able to recover...if it fails reflash your bios and try it again....if it fails again...humm take your stuff back.
 
According to the MSI MB pamplet your having memory issues..."if" the D Bracket operates the same as the K8N platinums D Bracket. It's matrix shows your light sequence as "Memory Detection Test... Testing onboard memory size. The D-LED will hang if the memory module is damaged or not installed properly."
Might be a long shot but thought id'e throw it out there. Also cant you download the users manual for your MB from MSI's site? If so the D Bracket matrix will help to identify at least a starting point.

thank you guys for helping me...
but no luck, I have tried pin 1-2, 2-3 like 100 times, and pulled the batteries out over and over. I have tried all the tricks in the book... but none of it worked... so I RMAed today... thank you all for your patiences and helpful hints :)
