Problem detecting Primary drive in Bios.

My ECS K7S5A is having problem when detecting the primary drive in bios: it's hanging for about a minute to see the drive and sometimes it didn't recognize it and I have to hit Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart.

I'm putting together a system with all new components laying around for years from Hot Deals. The drive is brand new retail box WD 100G ATA100 I don't remember bought it where and when. The mobo is driving a BOX XP 2100+ CPU, ATI Redeon 7000 64MB AGP, 2x512 PNY DDR 2700 memory, Kypermedia 52x CDRW, Retail box Teac floppy, Antec 1030B case with 2 more 80mm Panaflos high output fans in front. And brand new in retail boxes.

I did flash to the new OC Cheepo bios but problem is still there. It's running fine in Win XP Pro after seeing the drive and I'm burning the system with Sisoft Sandra Pro for few hours now. I also replaced the mobo battery. Any input?
 
Check that your drive is jumpered to single and that you're using the 80 conductor IDE cable and not the 40 conductor. Make sure the CDROM drive is also configured as master with its own dedicated IDE cable.
 
Yes, I tried all that. Change the jumper setting for all 3 selections: CS, MA, SL and I'm using the 80 conductor IDE cable included in its retail box. As I mentioned on my post all the components I use are brand new in Retail Box not OEM.

The CD rom has no problem. After seeing the Primary drive the bios detects the rest: Primary Slave (none), Secondary Master (CDRW), Secondary Slave (none) faster than a blink of eye and boot right into WinXP Pro.

I might try to swap the connector on the mobo: drive to IDE1 and CDRW to IDE0 even the color code are different to see if it fixes the problem.
