k. So my friend's computer is fucking up... at boot it gives that screen then fails to go further... safe mode doesn't work, it just hangs at the boot screen with that error message.

I've tried all of the HDD IDE channels, disconnected/connected floppy, etc... everything that has to do with cables... nothing.

Hard drive works fine in another computer...

...tried another cable...?? Until you can see the HD in the bios, you're basically stuck here....

Just for fun you might want to take some voltage readings, using a real voltmeter. If the PSU is on the edge that could cause exactly what your seeing.

Double check your jumper settings as well.
