Does anyone know if the prelude will pass 5.1 channel surround EAX5.0 over optical through DTS connect or DDLive? If the prelude is capable of this then I will buy it. I have the mystique right now and it lacks EAX5.0 support.

I could get EAX surround and optical output by using an x-fi and connect both the analog and digital outputs to me receiver. I could use the analog outs for games and the digital outs for music and movies. However, it would be nice to be able to pass games, music, and movies over digital coax or optical.

Yes,The prelude does EAX over Digital with DD live atm,, DTS interactive comes some time this year..

So I can pass 5 channel surround from games w/ EAX5.0 over optical using DDL? That's great...then I won't have to deal with the damn analog cables for games anymore.

Yes you can, it works well passing all the channels.

You might prefer the analogue connection though as its likely to be better sounding than the D to A converter and pre-amp circuitry in your amp.
Its pretty high end stuff on the analogue side and doesnt use any compression like DDLive.

You think the D/A and pre-amp in the sound card is better than the pre-amp in my Denon AVR1507 receiver? If they are about the same sound quality then it would be nice to just get rid of all of the analog wires. Then I will only have to deal with a single optical cable. Plus I don't think I'll be able to hear the difference between uncompressed audio and DDLive audio, especially in games.

Which is better is for you to decide but having checked the price of the AVR1507, the Prelude should be the CLEAR winner, its quite a cheap amp.
Read some reviews of the Prelude that describe the quality of the components used if you need more info.
Remember also that DDLive is lossy compressed audio, analogue isnt.
