Powerline Networking

I currently just bought 2 powerline networking adapters to connect my router to my bedroom.

My question is: If I currently have 2 (one transceiver at the router, and another in my bedroom), can I add another somewhere else? Or do I need to add 2 more? In other words, can you add additional adapters one by one?

The ones I've worked with in the past just need one hooked up to a router or switch, then the rest can be placed wherever throughout the house. You just need to pair all the ones throughout the house to the one connected to your router or switch. The manufacturer's website should have an FAQ or details on how to do that.
 
Yep, don't need to be in pairs even though many are sold in pairs. Most of the time they don't even need to be the same brand though I've read a few people have issue pairing mismatching brands. I swear the house I'm currently living in is made of pure lead as Wifi from one room to the next is shot, which is why I went with the powerline. Working great so far.

Yeah.. I'm having the same issue. I even tried high-gain antenna's.. everything. Even with a great signal, wireless isn't as fast as ethernet... so I'm hoping these adapters will provide a little bit lower latency too.
 
They aren't the fastest thing, but I have had remarkable luck, even put one out in a detached garage, ran it for a year before I discovered it was on the other side of the phase from the one at the router. Just amazing.
 
One more question... how does the autosensing work for the network?

Since they're 200Mbps and 500Mbps (generally), does MDIX allow you to even negotiate to those speeds? I mean.. usually the network adapters will auto negotiate to either 100 or 1000 Mbps (depending on your router, adapter, etc)... so how does this work? Like... can a Gigabit network card work at 200Mbps through these adapters, or will it negotiate down to 100Mbps?

Just wondering. I didn't want to shell out the extra cash for the 500 Mbps adapters if a single computer couldn't run at 500Mbps speeds.. or if they only made the 500Mbps versions to support the bandwidth of a few devices connected via a switch.

Another question is: What is the cheapest and easier device I can use to convert a wired network connection into a wireless connection? (Like an Xbox 360 without built-in wireless).
