How do you like (or hate) the new patch? Rumor has it the hunters got some hate (sorry Bonko).

I like the new quest window, and the quest tracker they have is much better than Cosmos'.

Ok let me explain the hunters side here.

True there was a bug that did give double the increase in ranged attack speed. You had to exploit this and switch out quivers and ammo pouches ... it would take your attack speed bonus from 14% to 28%. This however only effects people who exploited this. Hunters have no problem with this bug fix ... because thats what it was.

There is a second bug, totally different which has to do with DPS. Hunters, even in beta, were getting a higher then intended DPS. Blizzard however could not figure out why and as such decreased the DPS on all guns to account for this (this happened in beta).

Now however they have found the bug remedied it, yet they did not return the DPS to the guns / bows.

These are two seperate bugs ... please dont confuse them.

The second, is that Pets have had their resistances taken away, as well as any run speed increases. Now Im not that happy about resistances being taken away ... but I could live with it.

The problem is when it comes to run speed. Many players tamed King Banglash (SP?) because he had a higher then intended run speed. People did this because there is a bug which makes pets lag behind. Warlocks have this too, although it is worse for them as they have to use a soulstone to resummon their pet when it lags to far and disappears.

People tried to work around bugs in the run speed with pets, by tamming K.B.... now his run speed has been fixed to normal ... yet they did not fix the run speed bug for hunters, nor warlocks.

I hope this clears things up.

I have no idea how to use that quest tracker yet. I'd like to be able to move the new button bars around a little bit, though, but I'm glad that when they're active that all the locations for bags, progress bars, etc. adjust to not cover them over.

I do like my new icons for Shaman totems, but now they look a lot cooler than all the rest, so I think they should update those too ;).

And I'm veeery thankful that they removed resurrection sickness from Reincarnation, even though I still only come back with like 10% health and mana.

The pet slowness thing bugs me a LOT....being a warlock and all :(.

Did they eliminate the pets moving faster when the player is mounted? It seemed like my little guy was moving slower last night while I was mounted, but I didn't test it at all.

I thought the thing that most hunters were pissed off about was that the attack speed of the Spire Spiderling was raised from 1 second to 1.5 seconds. Well, that and the resistances thing.

Sorry I was not clear ... there were certain pets such as KB, that spider, and other who kept certain aspects, such as higher run speed, attack speed, etc, when tamed.

all of these were removed.

I dont have the spider so I did not mention him =)

Since Snarler has no resistances now, I will probably trade him in for a diseased wolf, to match my diseased bear.

i only got to play for an hour or 2 before downhammer went boom.
i like the druid love, and the new tauren dance.
dire maul seemed pretty cool as well, although i didnot stay long (boom)

Good info bonko on the hunters...nice to know a rational position on the bugs. Hope Blizz works it out for you.

There was some serious lag going on after the patch update last night... any word on that issue? (I haven't logged in since last night)

I bet that had something to do with tens of thousands of people downloading 62MB of content.

I logged in this morning and things were better.

Good point. Lets hope it's better tonight.

imho, I don't think a 1 second ranged shot is very fair... the fastest decent cast I have as a mage is 1.5 seconds, besides instant casts. Instants are on re-use timers though, and still have a 1 second delay before i can even start casting another spell or use another instant. I don't think it would even be possible to get a spell off, even without a pet beating on me.

Took awhile last night to download, install, and then try to log in, but finally got it done. Looks like it automatically reactivated bloom effect. Definately like the quest tracker with the quest window on screen. Had to figure a good spot for it on screen though. No more opening the quest menu to track. Adding extra action bars is nice, but didn't like the side bar. I have my chat and combat logs seperated, so the right bar encroaches onto my combat log. I'm using the CT_Mod, which allows me the option of displaying 6,9,or 12 buttons on the right bar and the ability to fade out unused buttons.
I'm a mage, so the new spell mage armor is nice. I wonder how it will affect the enchanters though. I just bought last week, +3 resistance for my cloak. The new mage armor at rank 2 gives +10! At least the +10 adds to +3 for a total of +13. Nice!
What does everyone think of the meeting stones? I think its a nice idea, but I had one slight problem with them. They only work for those characters who fall within the instance's level. I went to the Uldaman meeting stone and when I tried to activate it, it told me I couldn't because it was for lvl 35(?) to 47. I'm a lvl 48. Minor nuisance.
Only thing broken for me is the frame rate counter. Ctrl R used to display my framerate. Now it just displays fps, but no numbers.

I HATE the new patch with all my heart (I'm a Hunter). I honestly don't want to play the game right now. Good thing I'll be away for the next 5 days to give me some time :).

First of all I spent the first 2 hours trying to get my interface working or at least sem-functional because the patch made cosmos go nuts. I have basically everything back except my sidebars (and blizzard's built in ones don't work with cosmos so I can't have both)...but that's 12 hotkeys I'm missing right there. The other buggy thing is my second bar ontop of the main bar now gets covered by my pet bar making it useless.

My King Bangalesh is definitely running at normal speed now...he couldn't even catch up with fleeing players last night.

My DPS is 22 points lower....22 points is fricken huge.

Don't listen to Hunter's that think it didn't change or only changed slightly...

The reason people think this is that in the past, the extra DPS from your ammo wasn't figured into the DPS display on your paper doll. Now they added that DPS at the same time they took away attack speed so it seems like my DPS was only lowered a little but if you take the ammo out, that's how much it was really lowered. Very sneaky...

What I don't understand is that Hunter's were never an overpowered class in the first place. No one called for Hunter nerfs. Now this patch came and every other class got a positive change while the hunter is only stuck with negative changes. Even if the fixes were bugs in the first place, they didn't fix any of the bugs that make our class worse.

So a gimped class got gimped even more...thanks for kicking us while we're down Blizzard.

I'm level 52. I plan on getting my Hunter to 60 and probably never play him again until they fix our class. Long live Shamans...Blizzard's favorite class.

Listen, I can understand being upset about things, but you have to recognize the difference between a "bug fix" and a "nerf". Its a fine line, but it exists.

If its true that they weakened the class to compensate for the bug, then fixed the bug thereby weakening your class moreso...then you have a point. But seriously, things like the speed of the King Bangalesh or whatever, if thats the ONLY creature that reacted the way you describe, its obviously a bug. Just because half the players built their character and strategy around a bug doesn't mean you're being "kicked while you're down".

Making fear cost more mana is a nerf. They didn't PLAN it to be that way, but they decided to change the class. Slowing down 1 pet's movement to be in line with every other pet in the game isn't a nerf, its a bug fix. Sorry.

I understand what you are saying.

But here is why they are not "fixing" these pets. Snarler had 100 resists to all ... if he wasn't meant to be an uber pet ... why does he have an 8 hour spawn time ? And if pets were not meant to have resistances then why, when you click pet details are his resistances displayed ? Hell even if you do beast lore on snarler it says his resistances.

All thoose things were programed in for a reason.

That I agree with you on. Some pets should have positives and negatives. No idea why they scrapped resistances for pets, I don't see why pet's shouldn't have resistances.

Ya, Run speed will become moot when/if, they finally fix warlock / hunter pet speed. People are just mad at this because it was their work around for the pet speed bug.

The whole problem with them nerfing the pets is they're making them all generic.
The only difference being the look.

Some pets had advantages to make you choose them over others.
For example, probably the 3 most unique (different from the rest, not rare to own) pets were:
King B for his fast pursuit speed
Snarler for his resists
BRS Spider for it's 1.0 attack speed

This was good because Hunter's had a choice of what aspect they thought was better.
Now they've taken away the unique aspects of all 3 so it doesn't matter what pet you have.

Someone on the official boards said it best...
Blizzard should just give us all grey blobs and name them Bob for us.

I could understand if these pets were imbalancing the game but they weren't.

+1, gave something for the hunters to try hard and get a better pet. hows that any different then a 'lock summoning a doomguard?

Just a heads up .... after this patch.

You can force AA through your drivers and have Glow effect on at the same time. I was under the impression that this was not possible as glow effect softens edges and allows reflections on edges to act like secondary light sources ... but Im seeing them both on at the same time on my end.

It has also been noted that when someone rez's your dead pet they get a full 10 minutes of res sickness. Unintended I'm sure but agravating none the less. There is a CM solicting feedback from hunters to present to dev's about our woes and I'm guessing we'll see some love in the distant future.

So yeah, meeting stones are a good idea (more so on PvE) but nobody ever requests a hunter (which are grouped under DPS...erm what?) so I'm not to thrilled about it.

I couldn't get cosmos working (yes the Testserver alpha) in the limited time I had this morning, hopefully I can get it back up. So I gave the new interface a try. Nice to have it built in but I'm use to the cosmos sidebars and other addons . I had the same probs as the other poster with the 2nd bar covering up my pet bar too.

Chat bubbles = no

DireMaul sounds like fun with some good drops etc.

Lowered training costs is good I guess, how much did it go down?

Aside from my hunter bias, I'd say the patch is good.

Blizzards responce to the bug --->

"This is a known bug that began with the latest patch. To my knowledge, our Quality Assurance department will have a fix for this issue in the next scheduled patch. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause some of you."

So we only have to wait 3 months to get this fixed ....

*sigh

I think you're wrong about the hunter ammo pouch/quiver bug. I've played a hunter since I first got the game. I'm 60, but that matters not. Anyway, a long time ago I did the math to check the haste speed. I forget why I did this; I just did. With one ammo pouch I was already getting double haste. This *bug affects all hunters, whether they did the exploit or not. Many people, not only myself, have confirmed this. Simply put, if you had a pouch(count it: one pouch) you were bugged so to speak to get double haste...that means all hunters unless you're some rare/half-breed survival build that doesn't use a gun.

As far as resistance...my poor Snarler. :(

I love the new interface changes, however, it seems like they didn't even test them out. When you add the second hotkey bars, there are no numbers on the squares to let you know if you can use the ability or not.

I put polymorph on the second bar, but I can't see if I'm in range or not by looking at the icon like I can on the original bar.

I <3 the level 60 conjured water. I'm upset at the fact it's only 4 at a time (summoning water for everyone on a full UBRS raid being the only mage sucks). But I guess 4 is better than 0.

I <3 mage armor. It's not that huge of a difference, but again, 30% of 100-150 mana per second is still better than 0.

The game seems to run a lot smoother for me as well. I'm not sure if Ultimate UI was bogging down my system, but it seems to run a lot smoother.

I do not like the bug where priests ress hunter pets and get ress sickness. I do not like Error#0 when you accept a ress.

I really like Dire Maul, but the Captain before the Ogre King pisses me off! Mortal Cleave for 2500 damage hurts like a bitch.

I don't know how I feel about them throwing out +crit gear like it's candy. Seems like they're running out of ideas for gear or something. I swear, they must've added 20 new items that all add +crit (quadrupling the previous number).

I hate how they say they fixed the MC raid lockout bug, but our guild got split out of MC.

I like the new /guildinfo and /raidinfo commands.

I also like the new Onyxia quests.

I like how they capped the dungeons, but capping BRD when it's the way to MC was idiotic. Placing the Core for the MC Discovery quest inside MC was also idiotic considering that's what caused the raid lockout bug in the first place. I realize though, that this problem will aleviate when everyone finishes the MC Discovery quest.

I really like the way they did the quest tracker, but I don't like the fact that you can only track 5 quests. I also don't like the fact that you can't track quests that don't have an objective. I normally tracked quests with QuestMinion that way I knew which quests I was going to work on that day...

I also don't like the fact that they haven't really implemented the ability to see which members are on the same quest as you correctly. I could be standing right next to a player that was on the same quest as me, and mouseover a quest and it tell me that "There are no nearby party members working on that quest".

There are a lot more things I like (I <3 bloodrage and battleshout changes), but I'll cut it short here. :)

I think the new patch is 1.5 steps forward. They delivered a lot of content, but I think they overstepped the bounds of being able to test it all. Also at the same time they hit a lot of bugfixes but missed plenty of others.

The reason I say these things is that features like the quest tracker and meeting stones are implemented as intended, but not very well though out. The quest tracker needs to be draggable in order to really be useful, IMO. For some reason the default position on mine is halfway down the right side behind sidebar. And the meeting stones... a lot of inherent problems exist with them.

With bug fixes, like I said they hit a lot of them but missed many more. As a rogue, I can say that they fixed multiple bugs which previously helped us yet missed all those that served to hurt our gameplay. For example, they fixed the Seal Fate bug which gave an extra combo point everytime it went off. But they missed the bug in which we often do not receive combo points for our stealthed opening moves.

Overall a step in the right direction, but I think it needs to be followed up within the next month with another round of content additions and bug fixes.
