Possible vid card lag?

I'm getting a lag every 3 - 4 hours, its a small jitter and it happens twice but it happens and this shouldn't be taking place because it catches me during gameplay. Anyone know what could be doing this?
 
the latest drivers were messing up Left 4 Dead on my computer because the latest drivers are screwed with the multi processing in newer games so i downgraded just 1 below latest
 
With issues like this it is almost always not the video card and some other program or spyware/malware in the background. I would clean install everything and install the bear minimal software to run the game. Play the game and see if you still have the problem. Continue to keep installing all your other applications until you get the lag again.
 
its not the video card, i think i need another new fresh install of windows xp. thanks for the help
