Poll: Your Enterprise backup method?

At my company, I purchased an ADIC Scalar-24 with 2 drives. We do our incrementals Sun-Fri and full backups on Saturday night. We use a single extremely large disk array for our main file storage. It is connected to our main file server by 4 U320 channels. We have each tape drive on its own U320 channel connected to the same server. There are no more than 2 U320 channels per 64-bit PCI bus. We also backup 13 other servers locally. Each server is connected at 2Gbit (2x 1Gbit bonded) to our core switch, which is 2 Cisco 2950 switches linked via backplane.

We use tapes for one reason, disaster recovery. We send out tapes weekly to one of our other plants. They do the same with us. We also send the nightly tapes home with our second-shift operator, so we have off-site tapes for our dailys, also.

Personally, I find it easier to send home a cartridge with 7 200GB tapes in it, than to try to send the same number of hard disks around.
