Anyone noticed about how Nvidia did a horrible paper launch this year? The fact they even used fake boards for their soft launch is pretty amazing to me. I remember when ATI got ripped on for paper launch's because of Nvidias PR. Just to clear something up. I'm not a fanboy either. I've owned both brands and got a Nvidia on my current computer. Just fine it amusing about how PR wars go on. No flaming!

It's only a horrible launch if this is all they have to present for a possible November release. It's perfectly acceptable if they don't think they'll have anything ready for a while.

The little shindig they had was more about gpgpu and the changes they were planning to bring to the table, than anything else. It was not a product launch. At most, it could be considered a tech preview/overview more than anything. Can't have a paper launch if they are not launching anything, now can they. They were up front about the demos being run on gt200 hardware, and the fact that they were using mock ups of gt300 as stage props. I just don't see the issues people are having with this particular event.

True, but doesn't it seem like maybe when the event was planned they'd hoped to be presenting a lot more?

Planfail?

Sure, when they planned the event months back, I am sure they prolly thought they would have hardware. Shit happens though.

Also true. Makes the whole thing look a little desperate to me, tho. Like even if it wasn't a product launch, they are working hard to make a mole hill look like a mountain.

I am sure they knew months ago about ati's new release time. They had to say something I guess......
