Thanks for taking the time to look at this. Okay so heres the situation:

I'm in a house with only one phone line...its in the kitchen. The way the attic and design of the house is, theres no way to run a line unless its along the side of the house. So I have my DSL Modem Combination Router sitting on the counter.

I have a laptop and a Seagate Free Agent Pro 750GB that has all my information on it. I want to be able to connect to this hard drive and stay that way regardless of where I am in the house.

The problem is since my router is downstairs and I dont want to put a hard drive next to the router in the kitchen, I want to make it so I can connect this hard drive to my wireless network....wirelessly if possible without needing to connect it to a computer to do so.

If you have any advice regarding this please let me know. Thanks again!
 
ap may only work if you are able to play around with the software, through like a webbrowser, what you really want is an NAS, or a cheap computer running freenas, the design of this is to be on the computer you want to access it, if you don't want to deal with an nas, use a cheap computer or any computer that is stationary to contact it to, through that computer you can sent it up as a share and access it at any time
 
If your HD has a ethernet port then you can buy a wireless bridge or router. If it only has USB then you need the wireless version of the NSLU2.
 
that linksys device looks pretty nice, but beware, a few of the reviews on newegg stated slow speeds also one person mentioned he had to format his drive to get it to work, otherwise it should work out for you
