Hey, I was just reminded of this game Crimsonland that I used to play and love, but then I just remembered this other game but I cant remember its name. It was very similar to 'abuse' but with better graphics.
Any ideas?

It was futuristic.
There were robots that followed set paths and shot when they saw you.
You could get different guns.
(I remember you could edit a text file and change your weapon and ammo count in a saved game =P)

You moved with the keyboard and aimed with the mouse, the character looked 3d and as you moved the mouse around it moved its whole upper torso to make it look realistic, but the legs were determined by the direction you were moving.
 
Alien Shooter is awesome! Very impressive for what it is.

Don't really remember robots following set paths though, but I haven't played it for a few years.
 
can you say more about the story? plays the game on earth? who are you in the game?
 
Ahh. Abuse. Abuse shareware was the first thing I ever downloaded and installed onto my computer from the internet (I had been using BBSes for some time).
