PlanetSide 2

I'm four hours in and no key...

Its not a automatic send in. You have to wait for your account to be over 2 hours old then go in to get it. If that isn't the case try posting in the sitefeed back or support section to get your issue handled.

if anyone wants to get together and do some squad rushes and shit, i'm on thebes server as New Conglomerate pretty sure my name on that one is sirmonkey1, since i have a couple different ones on different servers.

Sent you an invite. My in game name is ArazuX.

Played for an hour or so and wow what a game. Had a battle that lasted for like 40 minutes at one place. Got like 12 kills, and a bunch of points for healing and kill assists. Died a bunch of times to something called a nova. SHort range two shots from what it sounded like. Seemed pretty OP because people where just jumping around and instant killing me almost.

cool will get on soon and accept it. been working on my overclock for my cpu because i'm insanely CPU limited in the game even with 2 8800GT's in SLI. :( hopefully 3.6Ghz fixes the problem.

This game is really not very good. It is a year from being what anyone would call done but they plan to launch in 3 months. It has good parts in there, but in 3 months it will still be like moving into an apartment that is floors and a roof.

Yet the other guy says its the best game ever. I'm not saying it is. Still needs a lot of work, but not nearly a years worth. Keep in mind this beta still has a lot of changes coming. Its NOT a game demo.

Time to upgrade!

I got mine within the 2 hrs. I played it a little last night. Kinda boring...hard to find action. Doesn't help that I have no clue what I am doing either....

Map is huge, so there isn't going to fights everywhere. If you really want constant action you may want to try joining up with a active outfit (clan). IMO you need to be in a outfit with this type of game or you are going to get bored rather quickly. A outfit can range in size from having 1 squad (12 people) to two full platoons (100 people) in extreme cases. Its really hard to play solo in this game.

You can find active outfits recruiting over on the official forum. Get you into the action and help you learn the game. People in charge of those outfits have likely been in beta, since July anyway.

Thanks a ton. I joined a squad last night and tried to ask for some pointers but quickly told to
go search Google....really?! Like I haven't tried that already for with no luck. Just wanted some answers to a few simple questions. Some people's kids...I'll look into the outfit thing..

TY

Yeah random squads are not the best way to get into the game. Outfits are far more welcoming IMO. Good ones to look into are The Enclave (not for the weak hearted, but they get their shit done), 666th Devil Dogs, and Ghosts of the Revolutions. Those are bigger outfits on the TR, NC, and VS respectively. Bigger outfits tend to be more noob welcoming, so you will learn a lot and have a lot of fun from doing ops.

what side do you play on and what server, i can get on and help you out.. i also play with a guy named testyvenom who streams and he lets me tag along with him and the clan he's in named Alpha Squad. i've learned more about the game in the 2 days i've been playing with them then i would of ever learned on my own.

I will look what server I am on tonight when I get home. I will be on tonight.

ok on there now, my user name is sirmonkey2 on that one.. we'll see how long i can deal with the 120 ping.

I played on both the west and east coast servers regulary. TBH I didn't notice a massive difference in playing the game due to any potential ping issues.

the lag isn't on their end its on mine due to the way comcasts does routing out here since i'm in a test market my connection goes from spokane to seattle then back to spokane then to the east coast so i get an extra 30-40 ping tacked on to what i should actually have, quite annoying. but playing on that server wasn't to bad as long as i was in a vehicle. but i found a huge tank platoon with 40+ tanks, 10-15 sundi's, and a crap load of aircraft. we just steam rolled from base to base but then we started getting split up and the NC were able to push back and take everything we captured.

Wow. I can see that causing issues.

Yeah that shit is crazy. You will never see that in other games.

I've seen the developers saying that they didnt want to have a player who has played for x amount of time longer than another player to have a distinct advantage, but from what Ive seen the cert points you get dont let you "side grade" as they like to say, but rather just give you a clear advantage over others.

also Ive played off and on since tech test and whats up with the crappy textures? The screen shots they were showing off months ago had high res textures that looked amazing. In game its quite a bit different. Character at selection screen even looks washed out with low res textures ffs.

Forgot about the Tigers game last night. I probably won't be on until the weekend now.

no problem, just message me here on the forum and i'll hop in that server.

honestly i don't think anything really gives a huge advantage. each item fits its role. the problem they are having right now is the whole balancing factor of weapons and vehicles. for example the vanguards have the same amount of armor as the light tanks even though the developers say they have more which isn't true. the machine guns on vehicles do more damage to vehicles then the tank main guns, the bursters on the max's do more damage then any gun in the game on aircraft, the AA guns are op as fuck against aircraft.. the mustang starter gun on the reavers do shit for damage..

in the end it all comes down to balancing and people need to report it in their forum for things to get changed. i really haven't seen anything from cert points that gives a clear advantage to the other person and the fact that it takes 10 years to build up enough cert points to max anything out is another advantage.

my top 3 things i think need to be fixed..
1. the turrets engies get take to much to kill, you can setup 3 or 4 of them outside a base and just rape everything and anything in the base.
2. fix the burster AA and all other AA weapons in the game
3. fix the friggin armor on the tanks and make it so simple machine guns can not kill them or do like 1% damage, not kill a vanguard in 5 seconds.

as far as the graphics go i don't know what the game actually looks like, i play it with everything on low or off.

I think the forced fog and fxaa makes everything looked washed out as well, but its clear the textures on highest ingame setting are nowhere near what they were showing on screen shots earlier this year.

I think its kinda lame that I can run the game in 5760x1080 and thats ok, but I cant reduce the fog as that would "give me an unfair advantage against people with machines that cant render the same distance".

Devs seem to have an amusing sense of priorities when trying to create an even playing field.

i wish i couldn't wait to play but the game just feels clunky to me. you'd think in all the years after ps1 they'd have the time to figure it out. but then again it's free so...

see everyone keeps talking about this fog shit, i can't see it and i have no clue which graphic setting controls the fog either.

yeah i know the developers turned down the fog a lot or so some of the people i've played have said. but with all minimum settings i can barely see the fog. only thing i see is a slight haze at my maximum view distance.

So, I noticed I wasn't getting the best frames and I was curious:

I opened hardware monitor and paid attention to the highest load %. Hardware monitor says that the highest my CPU got was 83% and the highest my GPU got was 61%. I knew there was something wrong. Am I the only one with this issue? This game doesn't seem to use my hardware like it should.

EDIT: It seems the planetside 2 forums are down?

on my system core 0 sits around 55-60% load if i leave gpu physics off(if i turn it on all core sit at 50% load) with all other cores never exceeding 50%. my 8800GT's in sli never go over 60% but in single card it'll go to 95-100% load .. the game is self is very cpu clock bound. going from 3.2Ghz to 3.6Ghz my average frame rate at the warpgate went from 30 fps to 50fps out in the field it went from 15 fps to 35fps. also before doing the overclock i kept getting shit tons of stuttering, don't have that anymore now.

my suggestion is just play around with the settings and see what works best for you.

Lowering graphics is the only thing that helps now. My CPU is OC'd to 3.8 and it won't go any higher than that unless I am using an even higher voltage than I have it set and I don't feel comfortable with that. Hopefully they address the issue sooner than later because my GPU is very nice!! I'd like to be able to take advantage of it.

I think they have fixed some issues with lag but it still a huge hog.
