Hello everyone,
I good friend of mine just joined the convent and now finds herself in need of a digital audio (e.g. mp3) recorder. Because she has very limited access to the outside world, she has asked me to decide on and purchase one for her. It's a little nerve wracking to spend her money, so I would like to make as informed a decision as possible.
She basically wants something that can record via a microphone and transfer the digital audio files to her computer. Then, she wants the ability to burn the audio to CD for later playback. As much as possible, she wants to not be limited by bulky software that restricts her use of the recorded audio.
She was originally considering:
Diasonic DDR-3256 Digital Audio Recorder & MP3 Player
This appears to be sort of an executive "record my thoughts" device that is primarily for recording voice.
From searching the forums, I also found some references to:
the DMC Xclef 500
This seems like more of an entertainment mp3 player, with some recording ability.
My questions are as follows:
1. Does anyone have any personal experience with the above devices? If so, how good are their recording features? How easy is it to manage files recorded by these devices?
2. What other devices would you recommend I look into, and why?
3. Are there any additional considerations I should keep in mind?
