Hi All,

I recently bought a plasma :

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Samsung...HDTV/9790779.p?id=1218175546200&skuId=9790779

When I set the resolution on the laptop to 1920x1080, the image displays but it goes beyond the HDTV. Works perfect at 1680x1050, choices for aspect ratio is 4:3 or 16:9. Anyway around this? There is a HDMI/DVI specific port on the tv, not sure if that makes a difference, the laptop has direct hdmi output. Maybe some setting in nvidia control panel?

Thanks,

Ryan

Assuming that the TV's menu settings are correct, stuff like enabling "just scan" or "dot for dot" then you probably just have to adjust the overscan option in your laptop's video control panel.

Keep your settings at 1920x1080 @ 60hz while you're troubleshooting.

What sort of onboard graphics does your laptop have? ATI? Nvidia? Intel?

Also: Some TV's (but not all) have a specific HDMI input that's better suited for PC use, i'd use that input to make your troubleshooting a whole lot easier.

On a Samsung, the option you are looking for is called "screen fit." That'll disable the TV's fucking overscan (I hate overscan). I recommend using that mode with all devices.

Also, read up on the specific TV, on my Samsung ln52b750 if I hook my computer up to HDMI-1 and name that connection PC then it automatically removes overscan and input lag is drastically reduced. I dunno if there's a similar trick with your model, but it's worth a google or two.
