Hi guys, I'm trying to undervolting (and downclocking accordingly) a Palit 460 sonic 1024 vga . With MSI-Afterburner/Kombustor the card seems stable with 0.825v @650/1700 under stress. Now if possible I want make changes effective with a bios mod, and possibly insert even lower voltages.
As i said I'd like set voltages lower than 0.825v. but I found googling this post referred to a 470gtx:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...3&postcount=44
with this part:
"EDIT: updated image, cause VID <0.825 is not possible due to VID7 pin on NCP5388, is grounded"
Although is referred to a 470gtx card, I'm not an expert so I'd like to ask you if this apply to the 460 gtx, or I can set voltages lower than 0.825v.

Nibitor 6.0 allows me to set value as low as 0.6125, but how much can i really go down?
My ideal would be to set 0.725v for 2d and 0.775 for 3d (and further lowering frequencies).

Why are you wanting to lower the voltages and clock frequencies of the card? Is this due to power saving reasons because you're not gaming? Just curious...

I want play games, but silence come first. I have this card in a small case, and just under the fan of the vga, almost attached, I have an audio card.
I want to lower temperatures as much as I can so that the fan rotation won't increase too much during games. Even if I underclock the card to 600/1600 will be faster than a geforce 550, for a price almost similar and lower power usage.
AMD was not an option for some reason (mainly linux support)

I'd swap out the cooler before I'd undervolt/clock it that much. If your concern with the audio card about EMI or just not having much room for airflow? Both could be solved with a usb sound card, or just using the onboard audio.

Your link doesn't work, so I don't know what I might be missing.

I'm overvolted and OC'd and I can barely hear mine...tops out @ 75C under full load. I have a micro-ATX case...

x2 on aftermarket cooler. I am also running Palit GTX 460 Sonic. Equipped with Scythe Setsugen cooler I am running it at 815/2020 @ 1.025V. Completely inaudible with fan almost at minimum during gaming and its still cool. It also doesnt take more room than stock cooler so space shouldnt be an issue.
