We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.

Oracle is recommending immediate deployment of the patches for 21 vulnerabilities. The patches apply to both Java SE and Java for Business. Given the ominous tone of the update warning, IT Admins should take heed and implement the patches as quickly as possible.

All told, eight of the vulnerabilities had a severity rating of 10 out of 10, two others were rated 7.6, and four more carried a rating of 5.0.

A bit of warning to all - check the cache when you update to the current JRE. Found an unexpected copy of the the nasty we had a month ago. As a bonus, MSE found a copy last week.

What uses does Java offer for the typical home user? I've noticed tons of pre-built laptops have this software installed and it is always on my list of things to go when ever I do a PC tune up.

Some apps are built on it.. So its required for those.
