Operating System that loads from CD.

My friend's laptop hard drive broke. Until his replacement comes, is there a Bootable CD that will load an operating system directly into the RAM without installing?. He basically needs internet, and word processing.

Preferably Windows but linux will do too.

You won't find anything for windows unless somebody makes you one.

BartPE can do it with Windows, but you must supply your own Windows CD / key.
