I'm looking for a free / open-source e-mail server software that runs on Windows. I just need something to use short term (6 months) until the company I'm working for can pony up the $$ for something better. It has to be relatively secure -- i.e. it cannot relay mail for everyone in the world :p and be hacked by my 7 year old. No flames about the Windows platform please --- haha! :D

I am not aware of any Open Source Windows Mail Dameons, but if its just for the short term Im sure you could find a Free Binary of a Windows Mail Dameon.

Im sure there was a post on this site a while ago about it too :)
