I just noticed on the HardOCP news page that there are new drivers for the 8000 flavour of cards, but I, owning 2 x 7900 GTs have not seen NEW drivers for months.

I thought I might check, only to my astonishment, after selecting Graphics Driver, GeForce 7 Series, The only option after that is Vista 32 bit and Vista 64 bit!!!!

Am I missing something?:confused: :confused: :confused: :mad:
 
Simmer down, the website is probably just borked after they released the 8600 series and updated the drivers.

You have the newest driver already for your card.

And they are still supporting windows, as the new 8 series driver (158.19) is for XP as well.
 
It's almost 100% certainly a mistake on their site. They'll be back. Though whether they'll be new is an open question.

They certainly haven't abandoned Windows XP. They just released new XP (beta) drivers today for the 8x00 series.

I'm sure there will be some love for the older cards too. Though maybe not today.
 
he has 2 x 7900's. no new drivers to be seen for us 7 series owners. the latest is 93.71 for 7 series cards in xp.
 
I have a 2 GeForce 7900 GTs I do not own an 8x00 series card. At this point I am not really interested in driver support for a card I do not have.

I saw that they had XP drivers for the 8x00 cards.

I thought I was clear in my post, must have Borked it.
 
Instead of selecting "GeForce 7 Series", select the "GeForce and TNT2" item.
Last it was updated was Version: 93.71 for a release date of November 2, 2006.
 
No, you were clear. And the answers were clear. Not sure why everyone's still acting confused and some are posting as though the answers didn't address the question.

1. The lack of XP drivers for pre-G80 video cards on the website is almost certainly a mistake and will be rectified.

2. It is very unlikely that there will never be another driver release for the pre-G80 cards. Even though it may not happen today.

3. For clarity's sake, both of us also pointed out that it's silly to think nvidia doesn't care about XP anymore since they just releasted G80 XP drivers today. So, asking (as the thread title does) whether nvidia has given up on XP is just sorta silly at the moment. The correct question (though I think equally silly since it's so unlikely) would be: "nVidia no longer supporting G70 cards and XP?"

Really I guess my point is that the 93.71 is now closing in on 6 Months old, so any Sli profiles and optimizations for the games that have been released in that span of time might be dependant on some fresh software for the GeForce 7x00 series of card.

I cannot remember having to wait more than 6 months for a new driver, especially an nVidia driver.
 
i think its ludacris that the only old drivers on the site are for 7 series cards. and even the beta 158's for vista 32 don't mention sli for 7 series owners. im so confused by all this.

heres what i want. a new driver for my 7950gx2 for xp
and a new driver for my 7950gx2 in vista (thats works correctly)

There haven't been 680i driver updates for Windows XP since November as well. Should I raise hell about it?

They are trying to get the best drivers for their flagship models out. Once they have the best drivers out for their new cards they will go back and fix bugs and other things for the older ones.

Can't you make your own SLI prefs for games anyway :confused:

You can do it yourself sure, but dude, I paid close to $1000.00 CAD for these cards. I thought that also bought driver support!

At the end of the day, why do I have to chase down performance at such a high cost only to have become obsolete so quickly.

I have been a Hardcore PC gamer for close to 8 Years now.

But I feel that it might be time to jump to a console now.

I don't know about "gay." I figured it was just "bi-curious."

But, keep in mind that, though you clearly are the most important person in the world, the 7-series drivers have been pretty rock-solid and nvidia has limited resources. They've got a lot of people who just ponied up $600 or $1200 for brand new cards that don't work as reliably as their older ones.

Given that driver developers don't grow on trees, and nvidia can't just hire and fire developers at the drop of a hat, I think their emphasis on the newer models is understandable.

Besides, I don't know about the GX2s. But for many of the older models, it's possible to run the newer drivers via a few hacks to the inf files.

i don't think im the most important person in the world, i simply want what so many other people want. i want my expensive video card to work correctly via nvidia drivers and have regular updates with tweaks and performance improvements to boot. this is something i obviously gave up by coming to the nvidia camp last year.

Trust me, they have yet to fully support Vista 64 either!

And more recently people just paid $1000 USD for 8 series cards.

Like I said, once they get good stable 8 series they will fix 7 problems.
 
I just wish they would release Vista drivers for the go7900gts. The drivers that dell has are broken, and I can't play any games with them.

Well, for XP, you've got functionality. As for "regular updates and tweaks and performance". . . at which point will they be able to stop doing this? Are they never allowed to focus somewhere else. . . even for a while. . . not even during the 8800 launch "crisis" where people were screaming bloody murder about the lackluster drivers and no Vista support?

Again, I can imagine getting all bent out of shape if the 7-series drivers were horrible. But they're not.

You want icing on your cake. Others still need cake.
