Hello Everyone,
I just picked up an NF7-S, and love it, however I've come across a problem I can't solve with this board.
I'm running WinXP SP1, the install went just fine - Soundstorm sounded great and was working properly. I then went to upgrade to DirectX 9.0b and that's where the problems started.
Upon reboot after the DX9 install, I tried to open the NForce Control Panel and received an error message saying "Failed to initialize the NVIDIA audio driver! Please install and try again", however sounds would play properly even though this error occured.
I decided to see if the error was because of the DX9 install, and did a DXDIAG. Clicking on the Audio tab revealed my problem - the audio was being emulated, and I received the error message saying that no hardware buffers were being used - so, no sound hardware acceleration.
This didn't happen at all using DirectX 8.1, and after doing a system restore to the point before I installed DX9 everything works properly - when i upgrade to DX9 this error occurs again.
Anyone have any idea why this is happening? Is it a Soundstorm problem? How can I stop the audio from being emulated and use the hardware buffers?
Any help would be really appreciated - I'm really lost here
