So I ordered a few parts from newegg, a asrock mobo and a conroe i could use with my memory and vid card i had now. What I just realized is that the 1gb in my system is 3 sticks of memory and all but made the motherboard on hte way useless. I had 2 more things on the way but I won't use them now. So what is my best way of going about sending them back and getting credit???

Mod Edit - This is the hadware help forum, not the "how to scam NewEgg" forum. Sorry you made the mistake but your options have been spelled out for you....B.B.S.

You don't have to pay 15% of the entire order, just 15% of what you want to return.

If they havent gotten there yet, refuse the delivery. According to Neweggs policy, you'll be refunded everything and no restocking fee.

It's like 3 packages, 2 orders. What reason would i give ups? and won't they ask me for a reason also?

sounds like newegg already shipped his order, so canceling isn't an option. if it's your fault for not knowing what to purchase, then there's no way around the 15% restock fee. If something is broken or they sent the wrong part or something, then they'll waive the restock fee. it sounds like you're the one that made the mistake, so you'll be responsible to cover the cost. just get back what you can and be happy they are so good with returns and such.

Lol yes i know it was my fault and i'm not trying to get around the restocking fee. All that happened is that it slipped my mind that my current 1gb in memory is 3 sticks and not 2.

Just say that you are someone else and that the person they are looking for moved out. :)

I assume you have 2 256 chips and a 512, just buy another 512 on the forums or trade someone 2 256 for 512. There's always people looking for different things.

Guys, just so you know, a Newegg Support person does browse this forum occasionally.

I don't have any more money, I think the best thing i can do is just return everything foot the restocking and wait till i can afford new everything :-p

No UPS isn't authorized to ask you why you are refusing it (however they might ask anyway, just tell them you ordered the wrong thing.) It is in neweggs policy to refuse the order if you know already you don't want it otherwise you will be stuck with a restocking fee PLUS you will have to pay to ship it back. Just refuse the package.

So why can't you just run it with 768mb of ram and buy another 512 when you have $50 or so.

If you factor in the restocking fees you'll still come out ahead. Just keep the extra 256s around in case you need it.

run with 256mb less and without dual channel no thank u
I have a source of funds that will be availible soon and it was a bad decision to buy now.

sell/buy/trade/barter for memory that will work? its your own fault, stupid is never cheap.
