I'm buildin' a comp and have about 200 bux to spend on a new mobo. I might go intel or AMD route... just need help in findin' a few good ones for a around 200 to choose from... plz help!!!

Thnx

Either if ya go Intel or AMD I would suggest the DFI LanParty mobo's. Great boards and comes with all the extras.

If your looking for Intel or AMD XP, I'd recommend ABIT or ASUS. its a little different story if you're going for AMD 64 though,

i went MSI for my dual opteron setup but thats just because of a lack of options

im going to say that in general Pentium boards are more expensive that AthlonXP boards but are about the same as A64.

i like pentium but i never tried the new bartons and whatnot nor have i given the A64 a go so im useless there :(

i'm thinking of upgrading too, what do you think i need on a board nowadays for it to last me several years...

on new boards i mostly see a lot more of sata and less ata
several PCI-E x 1's, and mostly 1 PCI-E x 16
builtin gigabit ethernet
800fsb
ddr2 compatible

how much is it worth to get a board thatll last several years?

For a new guy puttiung together a computer I would not gow with any DFI boards they are very buggy even for pros. I think that MSI,ABIT,ASUS, and SOYO not in any order have very good boards although Soyo usally doesnt overclock well.

I say AMD system because thats what I use There are alot of options right now have fun finding what you want

Simply based on documentation, id reccomend the Abit NF7 (or the Nf7-s) It looks to be a great newbie friendly board.
