My new MediaSmart EX490 WHS box is being delivered today, and it includes a 1 TB drive. I've read one several sites and in our FAQ that the largest drive should be the primary. So, I'm going to leave it that way, and just update the pre-installed OS.

That being said, if I want to add three more 500 GB drives (that are currently empty and unformatted), is it better to add them in before I power on the box the first time, or can they be added to the drive pool later on, once I get the OS updated? Or, doesn't it really matter?
 
It doesn't really matter, but I would add them after powering on the box and making sure it works okay.
