I'm new to overclocking and I'm not sure where to start. I'd like a guide if possible...

I have an Athlon 64 Newcastle 3000+ on an MSI K8N Neo Platinum with 1GB of DDR400 Corsair ValueRAM. I also have a Leadtek Geforce 6800nu.

Could anybody help me with starting out on overclocking my CPU and then perhaps my GPU? :)

THanks!

To avoid flaming I would suggest you do a search in this forum, this question has been asked many times. You should also search for some FAQs via your favorite search engine, then come back here and ask any specific questions you may have.

You might want to first learn about different overclocking options you have.

The way i know many of us have our 3000+'s running at is 2.5ghz. We get this by first turning the RAM to run asyncronously from the CPU. There should be an option to either change the divider to 5:6, or run the ram at 166fsb. Then we put the HTT up to 250mhz, which runs the ram ~ 210mhz. Its a pretty good overclock for a 3000+ to hit, but many of us have hit it (well, everyone who has a VNF3-250 has i think).

When you say 5:6, do you mean set HT Frequency to 5x and CPU Ratio to 6x?

I'm looking at the Cell Menu of my BIOS.
