ok i havent even had my own pc ever... so using the piece of shit computer that belonged to my mom for so long... (p4 2.0 ghz 256 mb 40 gb mx420) i acually played wow on it for a while (horribly i might add) and just purchased a new rig from ibuypower. i know it would have been cheaper to buy all seperately from newegg or something, and i probably could've put it together i have enough experience to do it, but i thought i'd rather be safe than sorry at least for the first time i bought my own pc. heres the specs

Nice very powerful. But building a comp is the most fun in owning a comp its like giving birth and watching it grow old. :D HAHA
 
yeah... i would've perfered to build it but for the first go around i'd rather be safe than sorry. so u think that nzxt 550w power supply is enough to sufficiently power what i have? and also what do u guys think of the case that i got?
 
ah, I wouldnt go with ibuypower. I was looking at them but i got warned by SO many people and monarchcomputer.com looks like a great alternatve. Ive talked to them many times on the phone and I havent even bought yet. Im not trying to scare you. Im sure itll be great (nice rig btw), Im just paranoid
 
I ordered my current computer from iBuyPower and have had no problems with it in over 2 years. However, due to overwhelming complaints and my own leariness as to the quality of their builds, I did not go back to them for my next computer. I would say that you are better off at ABS, Monarch or (a lesser known but seemingly very good company, the one I ordered my next PC from) Vigor Gaming.
 
ah crap u guys are making me paranoid now :( what kind of complaints are you guys talking about? and how many of them are there really?
 
like the previous poster said, hes had no problems. Alot of people have had no problems, but as you know, its easier to get people to speak up if theyve had problems than if they havent. resellerratings.com

Though there are alot of people who have complained, dont worry about it. Im sure youll be fine
 
There are plenty of complaints recently on resellerratings.com about this company (6.55 rating) compared to peers like Velocity (8.48), Monarch, (8.23), or ABS (8.7). Of note, "Ailienware" is even lower than ibuypower at 6.19, just to keep it real.
 
if you don't mind my asking, what did you pay for it?

and what's your warranty cover? from what I've read on resellerratings and here at the forums, these guys don't do great support. However, now that you've found [h] you use the forums for questions/ advice should you have any problems with the system.

i paid 1750 for the rig, after shipping and tax, and about 333 for the monitor after shipping and tax. the warantee is at the end of the list of what parts are in it, its like a standard warantee for 3 years. i just hope to god that my pc isnt messed up now :( man 6.5 thats like almost half of the people have complaints... now the wait for it to get here is gonna be worse.

If it works, it works, don't worry about the build quality unless it starts acting flaky. Run Prime95 for a day if you want to work it out.

As far as your rig goes, you committed four cardinal sins in my book: you went single core instead of dual, you bought a case with a window, you went AMD, and you went with nVidia. Still, for a gaming rig (I am assuming that is your purpose since you mentioned WoW and you went with a single core proc and a 7900gt) it is pretty sweet. Hope you have fun with it.

Also, AMD and the 7900 are at the top for gaming right now...I don't see why that's a "sin" either.
 
There's absolutely nothing wrong with those specs (don't know anything about that PSU, though), but I have no comment on the builder.
 
um... by the builder do u mean me, or ibuypower? yeah its gonna be used primarilly for gaming. i heard its better to stay single core for gaming. anyone know if the 550w power supply is enough to power my rig efficiently? thanks for all the feedback guys :)
 
yeah the 550 wat psu is fine, it will run perfectly, i was gonna buy an ibuypower but i comapred them to buildinga computer myself and there was a big price differnce, i havent built a computer in my life yet ( i am pretty young) but i have a friend who has built many pcs so i;m coo
 
i'd look at another psu. check out the psu forum and that'll give you some brand names to look at. and for the record, wattage doesn't mean everything when buying a psu, there are tons of other options to consider.
 
eh, the setup is already ordered. the psu was the only thing i was iffy about... but hopefully it can be easilly replaced if needed.

Ibuypower, don't have any experience with them.
 
YOu should have gone with a Sonata II for the case. It doesn't have a pretty window and LED's, but it does have a real power supply and better cooling and noise characteristics. Also, I would have gone Opteron for the processor and gotten a Scythe Ninja so you could either clock the hell out of it or have it silent. I'd also add aftermarket cooling on the 7900GT and I'd get an eVGA so that wouldnt violate the warranty. I'd also have a RAID so that your data was protected. Other than that, it looks pretty sweet.

im not too familiar with the scythe ninja, could someone explain it a little bit to me? and also i dont think i could choose the maker of the 7900gt, i guess its just whatever they give me. ive never switched a stock coolilng off anything for an aftermarket one, but it sounds like it would be easy, any insight on that? and one last thing, im not that familiar with RAID either, how does that work and be set up?

i'm pretty sure since this is an oem, any overclocking or replacement of stock components would void your warranty.
 
well i'd make sure that everything worked perfectly as is and nothing is messed up with any hardware before i'd start going aftermarket. from what i hear ibuypower's waranty sucks ass anyways.
 
iBuyPower should be setting up the RAID array for you. As far as aftermarket for cooling, just make sure you don't go overboard, buy a lot of fans and suck all the power and then fry your board. Arctic Cooling and zalman both make good cpu cooling solutions.

Windows are cool - half the fun of spending all that money is getting to admire your purchase.

Windows - they are pointless, they are gaudy, they weaken the overall structural integrity of the case. Give me a full tower solid steel Supermicro or Chieftec Dragon anyday. Bonus points if it is black or beige.

Also, an OCed Core Duo or P4 930 does just as well in gaming as any AMD cpu, and the X1900xtx is as fast as the 7900 series. But that is just my !!!!!!ism talking, go with what works for you there, just don't look like a douchebag with a case with LED fans, cold cathode lights, and all that glowing shit.
 
heh, yeah i know what u mean. i plan on building my next pc that i get so this is just like an intro pc... cause yeah the one im on right now really sucks mass balls. what games can it run like on high specs and resolutions and stuff?
 
The 7900GT that I've been tinkering with has been pretty powerful. I've been able to run BF2, FEAR, and Q4 at very nice settings. Brent did a 7900 series article not long ago. He plays the mainstream hardware churners - should give you a good idea of what the 7900's are capable of.

You ordered a very nice computer. You will be able to game well with this system, dont worry about what everyone else in here has to say......if you like what you bought and it runs the games you like.......what else is there. That being said......

Chech the 12 volt amps on your psu when it arrives, for future upgrades.
You dont need to tinker with aftermarket cooling on the GPU card unless you like to risk the warranty or are planning to overclock it. If you've not done it you certainly could screw up a nice 300 dollar card and be sorry. Most stock coolers are very capable, albeit a bit noisy, and are very capable of cooling the card adequately. It can also void not only the card makers warranty but the OEM warranty.
You can only RAID with two or more HDD so dont worry about that.
There's not a thing wrong with single core CPUs, unless you plan on gaming while burning or storing massive amounts of data.....then double cores are nice.
Your video card choice was excellent......that card is the incarnation of the 7800GTX256MB and will run most games full out.
BTW did you order an OS?????I didnt see on your list that the comp was loaded with XP home or Pro only that the HDD was preformatted?????you'd better chech that out or you'll be stuck ordering an OS an then loading all the drivers and other software yourself. I cant imagine an OEM sending out a comp without an OS. :eek:

From what i have seen in the field (i see alot of rigs) and have seem more than a few ibuy rigs - they are low price because their service is not premium and they don't take great time and care in assembly like top tier OEM's, and can be a hassle to deal with unless you are persistent about things. Meaning, if you already know a good deal about hardware ibuy can be a very good deal. Most of the issues are shipping/handling related or the due to the fast cookie-cutter/slap together build they seem to do (no stress stability testing). In essense as long as you go over the rig and do a basic tightening down of cables and checking that everything is actually plugged into where it needs to be things are usually ok. Having basic troubleshooting skills is a good idea for buying ibuypower type rigs.

As an experienced person if i were to actualy buy a rig that's where i would buy it because it comes close in price to a DIY rig and i can troubleshoot any issues if need be and stability test and overclock myself (I recommend Velocity Micro to other lesser experienced (been recommneding them for a long time).
 
yeah i would've got a better psu but the choice wasnt there for any other than nzxt, maybe because of the case brand. um... what do u mean exactly by check the 12 volt on the psu? i know a decent amount about hardware, but not much in the psu department. so when my new pc arrives i should open it up and give everything a little push to make sure its plugged in correctly? so does anyone know the quality of the psu i ordered? i guess ill replace it a little later if its not great... but i wont be able to right away. thanks for all your feedback guys i greatly appreciate it.

oh yeah edit: i forgot to mention OS. i have an OS disc here at home. thanks for checking though, it really WOULD suck if it got here and i didnt have an OS :D

I wouldn't put too much stock into what he's saying. Your computer is just that.. YOUR COMPUTER. As long as you are happy with it, that's all that matters. Personally, I like all of the LED's and Neon. But for some people, that's not their cup of tea, so to speak. To each their own.. Post up some pics of your system when it arrives.. I'd like to see what it all looks like!

Thanks. It's a close up of my Silver Thermaltake Shark Case (found it on sale for $159). The thing that I am most proud of are my 5 Antec 80mm LED fans that cool off my (2) 7800GTX cards... I guess that's what happens when a bored person with $50 dollars and a little imagination, is tired of their video cards getting too warm..haha. Aside from water cooling, there really was no solid way to cool both of my eVGA Vid Cards with the ACS3 coolers on them..

Speaking of which, Sage Osaka, did you get an aftermarket cooler (or cooling solution) for your vid card?
