I have 3 computer networked around the house A: the one in my room, and B&C in the basement. B&C can share files and see A, but cant connect to A. A can see B&C but cant connect to them. B&C are on a phoneline network, and A connects to the router that connects to the phonelines that go to B&C. Any ideas on why I cant share files or printers???
 
for a home network make sure they are all part of the same workgroup
and then you when you share a folder or printer it should pop up under network neighborhood of the other computers

this is of course dependant on all machines having valid ip addresses and sharing the same subnet mask
 
important, what OS are you running?

If you're running windows xp pro, just make sure Simple file sharing is turned on in the folder options and try it again. If they're turned off then you have to setup accounts for each computer and configure permissions on each computer for each computer. If you're not running xp then you have to setup permissions no matter what.
 
They are all on the same subnet and work group, and I have XP Pro on A and simple filesharing is turned on. Any other ideas???
 
Go threw and make sure the network setup on the compuets are the same workgroup, usually that is the case when an computer cant see another. If that does not work, there are a few things to look for, but first try this.
 
I'm having the same mystifying problem here. Before SP2, everything worked great. After SP2, none of my computers show up in My Network Places. Firewall is OFF, all in the same workgroup with the same subnet mask, etc, etc.
 
I'm confused as to network layout
is the router connected to the phoneline network on the WAN or LAN side? It sounds like the firewall is getting in the way.
