• Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.

Need some input on a member

I don't remember why but I remember HardForum's 2FA being a pain in the ass so I disabled it

I remember it being a PITA too, I think with multiple browsers, one would time out and need a 2fa code and the other one would just be logged out. It got better (or I did) and now, everytime it prompts, I just grab my code from email and keep going. Might be worth trying again?

Maybe, that was probably my issue. I'm usually on Hardforum on 2-3 different devices: main computer, travel computer, and phone. The travel computer in particular had inconsistent usage. Logging into at least 2 of them each time that happens (phone + a computer) was annoying.

Thanks for taking care of that person, Crosshairs.

Keepass is a great alternative. It would sure suck extra to have your phone lost/stolen/broken if you are using 2FA everywhere.
Your phone should be secured and you should have your 2fa backed up. Bitwarden has a nice backup feature. I’ve switched phones a few times in the past year and setting up the 2fa authentication app has been a breeze.

Now if a insecure unlocked phone gets stolen, well that’s another story.

I use an Authenticator app and it asks once every 30 days per browser. That’s not much of an inconvenience.

fwiw, keepassXD supports otp/2fa. I haven't looked into how to set it up yet, and I don't know if it would work with the forum software.

Right now I have a very long password saved in keepass, with filesync keeping a copy of the database on my email provider's storage. I also have a backup code for the forum that I don't remember getting, I guess for if my password is lost or forgotten. I should probably write it down and put it in the firesafe in case my keepass database is lost or corrupted.

See something, say something.

Mods are on duty. I’ve considered volunteering to do a bit of it myself to ensure coverage, but it seems to be ok for now.

I always look at there recent postings here first. If they haven't been around here then that's a red flag which was one of the first things I did after reading his odd wording in the PM. Turns out he wasn't active at all recently and his last posts were from this time last year.

I've had some recent dealings with long term members here and all went well so it's not all bad. Just have to be a little more diligent.
Feelsbad, I haven't been around in a long time and was thinking of listing a motherboard 😂
