how do i share a folder on my network and how do i put pictures back onto a camera once i've taken them from the camera to my powerbook??

When you have network sharing on, you can just drop the folder into your public folder in your user directory. It's been a while but I think you can share it by using he get info menu on the folder.

As for the camera, connect it so it shows up on the desktop and then just drag the pictures back onto it.
