So i got a alienware m11x, my hard drive is going bad in it with bad sectors, and error out alot, but i got another external drive, I don't know much about windows backup. If I was stateside i could just hook it up to my hard drive cloner and copy it, but I'm deployed right know, What is the easiest way to make it so i can backup or image onto my external usb drive of my windows image? pretty much i wanna backup my whole computer onto my external drive take the external drive out of the case and replace it with the one in my computer which is going bad. Thanks!!

Hook up the HDD let windows install drivers.
Once that's done in your task bar (usually always there) click the flag icon it'll suggest back up.
Click that and direct it to your new HDD.

Or go to Windows Control panel there in the right hand top of window you'll see a search box.
Type in Back up. You should see the option to do it.
Same place you should see the option to restore from back up as well for future reference.

Cloning the hard drive can get kind of involved using just Windows built in tools. You would need to make a back up, then restore from that back up to a new drive, then fix the partition size. And there are little annoyances that can pop up along the way.

There are free versions of Acronis TrueImage available from different HDD manufacturer's web sites, and those are probably faster to use. One example, Seagate's DiscWizard software, will install and run if you have a Seagate or Maxtor hard drive plugged in.
