Hi I'm having trouble with connecting my two computers wirelessly. I managed to make the internet work on both computers, but I'm having trouble getting the comptuers to see each other and file sharing isn't working.

Computer A: Uses an ASUS P4P800 SE motherboard and is the computer that is directly connected to the internet.

Computer B: Uses a D-LINK DWL-G520.

I have read the FAQ and have gone to various of websites regarding file sharing, but nothing seems to work. I have computer A in the workgroup HOME...computer B is also in workgroup HOME, but whenever I try to view other computers (in My Network Places I click 'View workgroup computers') it says I don't have permission.

I read http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=925182, which has an article on file sharing, but that did not work.

Can someone please help me solve this problem? A step by step instructional would be much appreciated. I'm a newb at networking.
 
can the computers ping each other? do you know how to do that?

try this:

if one computer is named: win98, go to the other computer; from an explorer window in the address field, type: \\win98 what happens?
 
I think I was leeching off my neighbor's network =/.

Does anyone know a good device that I can buy for one computer to link another computer to enable internet and file sharing wirelessly?
 
Just go to the various SOHO Mfg's websites. See what you like and go get it at a retailer or buy if off the net. Linksys, DLink, Netgear are a few of the more common Wireless router makers for the consumer. linksys.com etc..
 
Okay I went and but a Linksys router and when I type \\downstairs from my other computer it says

"Windows cannot find '\\downstairs'. Check spelling and try again, or try searching for the item by clicking the Start button and then clicking Search.

Any ideas?
