I am going to install a vpn remote access from remote client PCs to a w2k3 standard server. This is NOT remote desktop. I want the remotes to be able to access the server hard drives just as if they were local hard drives (connect using \\server\file1). Can I just install "routing and remote access" on the server or do I have to also configure Terminal Server? I am planning on using the Linksys RV082 VPN Router. Thanks.

If you're going to use the built in VPN server in your RV082 router...then you do not need to configure RRAS on your server OS.
Configuring Terminal Server would be the step for allowing Remote Desktop Client. Which...BTW, it does you to map server shares within RDC via mapped drives and clients would be able to access them as if they were local drives.
