need help identifying thing

set your multimeter to test continuity, and check that switch-- when you press it, it should let all the voltage through. if it isn't, then that's most likely your problem.
 
Gah some photo's were ok but not all. I know you are sick of hearing it.
From your description the system is getting power but the lamp will not initialize or come out of stby right?

Ok lets start:)
Does this projector have a small transparent lcd screen?
Does the screen have any display at all (may have to power and try a light source behind it in a dark room)
Have you touched the bulb with your bare hands ( this can cause the bulb to blow)
Did the system stop working with a pop or just flash the led on power up?
Are any of the caps deformed or have goop around the bottom?

Most of the problems are usually attributed to caps, if you can get a cap tester start pulling them and testing. If they are low at all replace.

I know you are going to hate me but grab a few amazingly clear photo's of the full board top / bottom the system together top off and any individual boards (ps etc).

I can zoom the photo's in pretty well and start looking.

Also its not clear from your pictures how the powerswitch is connected. The powerswitch connects to the main motherboard

Sorry for the slow reply but I have been busy else where.

This no voltage result is actually promising. Now I just need to clarify if there might be power coming off the board from other wires.

From your pictures I can identify the 10 pin header and what looks to be the AC supply wires.

Are there any other wires coming of this board then just those two?
If there is other wires can you measure those voltages as well?
Also, does the AC supply go anywhere else in the projector?

If there is no power coming from any of the wires then you have isolated the problem to the power supply PCB. This would be a good first step.

Also please do be carefull as there is live AC voltages on that board which could be a little dangerous if you don't know what you are doing.
