One of the system files in my windows install on my raid0 setup is corrupt.
I can't repair the file because the windows install disc doesn't recognize my raid setup. (and i dont have a floppy drive around atm).
I even tried slipstreaming some drivers (for my ASUS K8V Deluxe motherboard) into a SP2 windows disc and it still couldn't find my raid config.

Was wondering if I could find some sort of live linux distro with raid support/capability.
Does one exist? And if it does, think I could get in and just copy over the files to fix my installation?

Thanks.

This problem here is two fold. First is the RAID array managed by the hardware or the software? If hardware, is it a real hardware RAID, or a BIOS RAID? If hardware, then it should work just fine. If BIOS it will need a driver from the manufacturer. If it's real hardware, then it should work

i just booted a live distro of slax, can't find my raid drives.

actually, i think it notices a raid setup, but it doesn't notice any of the files/folders located on the drive.

any suggestions?

I have a couple....

Don't use raid0..
And do not try and use *nix to repair corrupted Windows files on a raid0 array, especially if this is the first time you've tried using Linux....

Seriously..... I am not trying sound rude or abrasive, but, in my opinion, raid0 is a bad idea for many reasons, the problem your experiencing now is only one example of why I feel this way... and trying to repair a broken raid setup with a *nix live cd is... well, difficult... at best, and you could potentially loose all of the data on your array if you keep fucking around without knowing exactly what your doing.....

Just my opinion... that's all. Google, read up... and maybe ask in the Disk Storage Systems forum....

You're using a fakeraid and it doesn't see anything? Typically, linux will report a fakeraid as individual drives rather than a single drive. If it isn't seeing anything at all then whatever live cd you are booting off doesn't have support for your boards SATA controller. What controller/chipset is on your board?

Most modern LiveCDs like Ubuntu's should support fakeraid, as long as it's not RAID5.

fakeRAID is chip-specific and is a PITA to deal with

best bet is roll yr own
