How well does Win XP SP2 support multicore cpu's?
I'm currently using an AMD Opty 175.
I installed the AMD multi core driver and I believe all it did was add the ability to choose program affinity and select core 1, core 2, or core 1 + 2
Playing EQ2, cothe 1st core goes to 100%.
If I change the affinity to the 2nd core then that one goes to 100%.
The core not set just spikes from 0-8%. (using AMD Power Monitor to see cpu utilization)
If most of windows is not load sharing across the dual cores, would it be better to change my games to the 2nd core and leave windows using mostly the 1st core?
Or does WinXP load share?
