What mouse does everyone use?

I have a wireless Microsoft mouse right now, and i'm not sure that I like it all that much.

Any idea's of a good one?

Logitech G7 here.

As far as a new one, it's kinda preference based, but most people are going to recommend you get a laser mouse, such as the G5, G7, and the newer Razr (might be wrong name?) mice.

I'm trying to keep my budget kinda lower.

I don't want to spend any more than 50$ on one..

I was looking at the Microsoft 6000.. 2000 dpi. Anything good? Anyone have it?

You could try using the search buttons and read through the thousands of "recommend me a mouse" threads. ;)

you could have gotten a razor copperhead on woot for 35 or so a bit back. i did.

Big ol' can of worms opening up here - all that there is to say is try them out yourself to see what you like, and ignore most of the "OMGOSH GET THE G5 ITS THE BEST" or "OMGOSH GET THE DIAMONDBACK ITS THE BEST" posts (with which this thread will shortly be saturated). :p

a $9.99 mouse from wal-mart... Works great and i think i'm one of the only gamers left still using a rollie mouse :p

HAH He uses a rollie mouse

Yeah, i've actually temporarily been using a rolly mouse.. one from an emachines. lmfao.

The G5 seems to be popular.

Copperhead from woot.

Used to be a Razer Pro 1.6. I like the feel and size of it better. The glowpipes on the copperhead are way too obtrusive for me, but the buttons and feel make up for it.

Razer Copperhead all the way, not seen a mouse that comes close to matching this in terms of comfort, accuracy and drivers (being able to set up macros, alt keys etc etc)

I have the Logitech MX1000 and think it is the best mouse for general usage because of the manu programmable buttons.
However, it is a bit heavy for gaming, which I would suggest a G7 for.

I never actually had a optical mouse, went straight from ball to laser. It is a massive improvement!

Razer Copperhead >=). Wont yell that its the best personelly, but a majority of reviews & comparisons consider it so ^^.

I have tried the MX1000, the G5, G7, the new G7 (CF design with rubber sides) and of course the rest of the Logitech MX500 series. I even tried the MX Revolution.

The best by FAR are the G5 and new G7 with the rubber sides. The old G7 is fine, but the slick sides kind of suck after you've been gaming awhile. The new G7 really is the best though. It is light, and just as fast and accurate as a G5 without the annoying cord. Plus it is really the coolest looking mouse ever made I think.

I have tried many of the Microsoft Mice as well and find their accuracy lacking compared to the newer Logitech mice. The cursor has a floaty kind of feel to it with most of their mice and their wireless mice are practically unusable for gaming purposes as far as I am concerned.

trackball ftw !
I love those, but I'm using a Logitec Mx500 right now.
Are those trackballs still being made?

I love my MX1000. I recommend it, but I DON'T recommend you buy a mouse without at least putting your hand on it. For example, I personally love the size and weight of the MX1000. On the other hand, I personally can't stand the feel of any Razer mouse. The problem is, everyone is different. Go down to Best Buy or whatever and try before you buy.

i had a MX1000 but it died for no reason. currently on a MX310 (yeah i know, old mouse but still a good one) and will be getting a G3 this week.

i loved my MX1000 for the time i had it. i'm 6'1 and have big hands so it fitted perfectly. but for some reason i played better with a smaller mouse (MX310) or maybe since it was wired instead of wireless. doesn't matter now since i'll have a new mouse to play with this week.

I love my MX1000 and I seem to think I have small girly hands. I was thinking about getting the G7 but I'm not sure if there are any improvements. The short battery life may prove to be a pain too, even though there are 2 batteries.

Having owned both I'll chime in here. The G7 has superior tracking and accuracy. It is really pretty evident when you put your hands on the G7 that the MX1000 is a dog comparitively. You'll feel the lag on the MX1000 when you try to go back. People that don't think the MX1000 lags will feel differently when they try the G7. Trust me. I couldn't go back for that reason.

I too love the ergonomics and weight of the MX1000. I think that it is one of the most comfortable mice ever made. The amount of buttons is nice too. The G7's battery life does suck. There is no question there. You are good for 7 to 8 hours and then you need to swap batteries. There is a guage on the mouse and that is helpful, but I have found myself not paying attention to the guage sometimes and the mouse just dying on me in the middle of a game. Plus the G7 isn't as picky about where the receiver is compared to the MX1000. So you have more slack on where you place it.

The batteries can be swapped out in about 3 or 4 seconds if you keep the replacement handy. It really isn't that bad. I have two G7's and I think they are great.

I recently switched from an MX510 to a Razer Copperhead and I'm really liking it.

The feel is a little different from the Logitech models, so agreed that you should try it out first. They had some on display side by side at the local BB, so that's an easy way to see what you like the feel of better.

Actually, I'm finding myself turning the DPI down on my Copperhead while not gaming. Moves a little TOO accurately for web browsing and such at 2000.

I'm not sure how the G5 is set up, but the Copperhead is ambidexterous (sp?) so there are back/forward buttons on each side. The ones not in use can be (and are, by default) set as an up/down DPI switch, so changing the DPI for different applications is real easy.

What I've gathered by reading a bunch of these kinds of threads and shopping myself is that the G5 and Copperhead are about equally good and the real issue is how each feels in the hand of the user ultimately. Also, everything else seems to be 2nd to these for gaming currently (again, just generalizing here) so one or the other would probably be the best choice, and either can be had for under 50 if you catch a good deal on the 'net.

Damn, guess I'll be buying another mouse then. I definately love the weight of the MX1000 as well. It seems to have a "I'm not as cheap... made of low quality plastic" feel to it but I'm all for better response.

I've got Razer Copperhead on my bday wishlist :D
Currently using a Logitech

Are you like my doppleganger or something? Everything you just said would be everything I'd have put in my post.

- Switched from the 510 to Copperhead
- I would recommend everyone pick up the mouse they like the feel of better
- Don't use 2000 DPI on the desktop

Weird. Oh well, I love my Copperhead and depending on what's released in the future I might just end up being a Razer fan for life. I still love Logitech and they make plenty of quality products, I just prefer the feel of this mouse. If Razer was no more I wouldn't have a problem going back to Logitech, but as long as they're around they have the slight edge when it comes to feel in my hand.

currently i'm using the g7 and its a great mouse. i was using a mx1000 before and like everyone else who used the mouse, its a good one. good battery life plus it had all of those nice buttons to config for the style you like. at first i wasn't going to switch my mx1000 for the g7, but my friend got it for 45 bucks from amazon with a rebate and i couldn't resist. if he didn't have that deal, i'd still be using the mx1000 right now.
the g7 also is a decent mouse. i really like the rough grip material on it, rather than the plastic like feel on the other models of mouse from logitech. plus on the fly dpi setting is interesting. i do admit, the battery life for it is somewhat lacking. i could spend days with my mx1000 without worrying about battery life. for the g7 it usually lasts about a day or day and a half. depending how much i use my mouse (ie gaming or what not). there is the fast mode to charge the battery under 2 hrs, but the battery is only at 75% though. but it's still a good mouse.

I have an mx1000, as others have mentioned it just doesn't track well enough for me. I'm still waiting for the perfect one though

They are good mice for general use. They have a great feel to them too.

The MX Revolution feels kind of cheap compared to the MX1000, and the G7 and G5 are lighter than the 1000's but they feel sturdy and are of excellent quality.
