I came home today and tried getting some info off a disk I brought home from work. I put the disk in and when I clicked on the A drive, it told me to put a disk in. I thought my A drive took a crap so I bought another one. Same thing happened when I installed it. Is the slot in my board bad? The little green light stays on all the time on both drives.
 
try a different cable and make sure there is power to the floppy drive
 
This happens often with floppy drives. It's the exact reason why it was always stated, since their creation, not to use them as an important file back up medium. Floppies are pretty much at the end of their life span, so I'd switch to a USB Thumb drive.
 
Can I assume that since the greeen light is on there is power to it!? I tried a new cable and again, same result.
Thumb drive is on my Christmas list.
 
I had this problem too, it wouldn't read disks, and the green light always stayed on.

But I just had my floppy cable backwards, and it didn't work because of that, you might wanna reverse how the end of the cable go into the mobo/floppy.
