Got some questions...

1. theres everything from the xp-m 2200+ to xp-m 3000+ which would be the best to over clock?

2. how much of a performance increase would i see going from a 2500+ to a oc'ed moblie (hopefully at least 2.4Ghz)

3. is there any stepping i should be looking for or are they all pretty much the same?

Well, I hear that the mobile 2400 and the mobile 2600 oc to the same levels, but i'm not toally sure, because i have a 2600, and got it to 2.6 (like in my sig) at 1.9volts. I'm not sure if the 2400's can do that.
Well, if you were running that 2500 at stock speeds of 1.83, you'll see quite a bit of difference by running at 2.5 or 2.6, however high you reach.
I don't remember my stepping exactly, but I think my core was something like IQYHA ??? something like that... Except, my room mate has the same core, but he can't seem to reach 2.6... but i believe that he's more limited by his motherboard and all.

thanks guys.. i guess ill get a 2400+, cheapest and about the same oc on average, right?

but two more things.. ill be using a zalman CNPS7000A-Cu to cool it, will that be enough?
i also planned on buying the a7n8x deluxe because i intend on getting a raptor, need the sata.. are there any other boards that overclock better than this that include sata?
 
Abit NF7-S. Deffinately a board to check out.

Also I'd go for the 35W 2400+, the overall overclocks I don't think are that much better than the 45W, but they seem to hit the 2.4-2.5 range more consistantly. (with reasonable voltages)
 
im also lookin at buyin a mobile soon and i had the same question as him...but i cant seem to find a 35 watt ...at least not at newegg, o well..
 
I wouldn't recommend the a7n8x, just because my roommate has one, and it limits his processor. It's one of those boards that runs of the 5volt line, instead of the 12volt, so if he ever runs the board higher than 1.85volts, his 5volt drops to about 4.5. Thats whats stopping him from reaching higher levels of oc'ing. I'd recommend the nf-7 (not the rev 1.0 because my motherboard died, and i have to use that while the rma goes through, and i had to format about 7 times yesterday, before a bios flash).

I was running an Albatron KX18DPro, which seemed perfect for me. If your fan doesn't use the mounting holes, look into the KX18D Pro II. That might have all you need.

It says on the Zalman website that the NF7-S is incompatible with the 7000A-Cu :(

and ratmeleon, im not sure what you mean by 5 volt versus 12 volt.. is that the 4 pin vs the 20 pin connection for the motherboard? :confused:

Any one else? Is a 5 volt connector 4 pins and a 12 volt 20? If so the a7n8x -e deluxe has a 20 pin.

The Zalman CNPS can easily be modded to fit an NF7-S. Merely file or machine away the outermost fixing hole on one side. (Sorry no pic, but pictures are available in the ABIT forum.)

XP-M 2500+, with Zalman CNPS 7000A-Cu is exactly what I built into my daughter's system on an NF7-S mb.

Ran prime stable for 2 days @ 13x208 @ 1.9 vcore with temp just touching 60 celcius. I stepped it back to 12.5 @ 200 @ 1.8v to maintain 2,2,2,7 timings and temps in low 50's.
 
the 2400m is probably the best money buy

although it seems slighty more people are obtaining higher OC's with the 2600m's

hence myself (on air)
 
what i meant about the 5volt and the 12volt thing, is that some of the motherboards draw their power from the 5volt line instead of the 12volt line... from all the connections to the motherboard.

edit: like my roommate has one, and if he raises the voltage to 1.85 or so, his 5volt line drops to about 4.5volts making it more unstable.

That has less to do with your motherboard and more to do with your Power Supply. It wasn't the board dropping the volts on your rails, it was the shitty PSU.

Try using a higher quality PSU :)

also, welcome to the forums !
but he sig limit is 10 lines, try to slim it up a bit?
