MMC...Mobile Module...confused

I'm confused as to what exactly the Intel MMC (Mobile Module Connector) actually is...any help? obviously it's a CPU, but i can't seem to find out whether it's just the CPU's package, or... :confused:
 
It's the old way of packaging pentium 1's, pentium 2's and early pentium 3's for use in laptops. My old thinkpad 600e (400mhz pentium 2) had one. But it's more than the cpu...it's this funny looking card with a connector on the bottom that holds the cpu and the northbridge on it.

hmm, right, so it's a card w/ a CPU soldered to it and also a Northbridge (that's what the heatsink is covering in one of those pictures i'm guessing)...in that case, how exactly does it attach to the motherboard...and what's that connector you mention fit into? :p
 
It sits flat against the mobo and connects with a long, wide connector that has pins in it. Look at the pictures in the link I posted...in the second picture, the white vertical strip in the bottom picture on the lefthand side is the connector. It looks kinda like the laptop AGP slots that laptop video cards connect with, just bigger.
